The channel will be extended to pay and satellite platforms in Europe, Latin America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East by the end of the year.

AMC Network

AMC Networks will replace MGM Channel with the AMC Channel. This change marks the beginning of distribution outside of North America for AMC, one of the most popular and award-winning brands in television. Throughout this year, different channels of the label will be launched on cable and satellite platforms in countries in Europe, Latin America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Additionally, these channels will be accompanied by authenticated AMC Video on Demand, HD and “TV Everywhere” services.

AMC Networks original series Halt & Catch Fire y The Divide, produced by AMC Studios, will be the first self-produced series to premiere on the channel. In addition to premiering programming produced by AMC Networks, AMC will also feature blockbuster films from the world's leading film studios such as MGM, Paramount and Sony.

Ed Carroll, chief operating officer of AMC Networks, highlighted that "in recent years AMC has redefined the way of telling stories on pay television by providing a cinematic approach to its in-house produced series such as The Walking Dead, Mad Men and Breaking Bad. Some of the series we have broadcast have become a global phenomenon. We intend to replicate our strategy in the US, extending the AMC brand around the world and creating a broad avenue for the transmission of our original content."

Bruce Tuchman, president of AMC Global and Sundance Channel Global, said, "There is tremendous interest outside the United States in AMC productions. This interest, combined with the success of broadcasting films from major studios to complement our programming, represents a tremendous opportunity to make AMC a must-see entertainment channel around the world. We are confident that AMC will be a valuable addition to our distribution partners' platforms as we continue to collaborate to grow their business."

Jeroen Bergman, executive director of programming at Liberty Global, acknowledges that “AMC Networks has an excellent business and creative track record and we are delighted to offer this entertainment hub to our subscribers.”
