The integrated EVS system at IBC TV will encompass solutions for content management, production, rapid editing, playout and distribution.

IBC TV

End-to-end news production solutions from EVS will allow IBC to broadcast its special channel IBC TV with programming 24 hours a day during the fair in Amsterdam.

Sue Robinson, producer at IBC TV, highlighted that "we have been collaborating with EVS for six years and now have complete confidence that their solutions will be a key piece in the production of more live content, including distribution via smartphones, tablets and other devices to fair attendees. EVS is a trusted partner in this process, committed to offering live content with greater ease, speed and reliability."

Designed to allow content to reach everyone during IBC, the workflow enables 24/7 delivery of online news, accessible from any web-connected device. Programming will include live streaming, highlights and live distribution of high-definition feeds to multiple screens within RAI Center, as well as live coverage of conferences and live interviews.

EVS' new XStore shared storage platform will be central to this year's workflow, giving multiple publishers instant and secure access to all content. The XS media servers will be used for ingest and playout of all news channels, including live studio interviews, as well as signal distribution to all digital screens.

Multiple ENG teams will upload their content from Sony XDCAMs using EVS Xedio Dispatcher with instant availability of material on the XS server and XStore for editing with Adobe Premiere Pro CC, program insertion and playout.

EVS' integrated system encompasses solutions for content management, production, rapid editing, playout and distribution, including IPDirector for Live Production and Asset Management (Live PAM) that provides ingestion control, content management and third-party sharing; XStore production with the new centralized shared storage platform for high-performance direct and near-direct storage, enabling instant content access; CleanEdit Xedio for basic editing and news assembly; and Xsquare as a transcoding tool; IPLink plugin for Adobe to give all media editors access to shared XStore storage for final editing with Adobe Premiere Pro CC.

Nicolas Bourdon, senior vice president of marketing at EVS, acknowledges that "our implementation at IBC TV this year is a great showcase of EVS's integrated news workflow and the versatility it can provide. The convergence of broadband transmission and distribution is on everyone's minds right now. There is no better place to put these multimedia tools and techniques into practice than at IBC."
