The TVE series 'Isabel', National Television Award 2014

The Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports recognizes with this award the series directed by Jordi Frades and co-produced by TVE, Diagonal TV and Telefónica.

The TV series Isabel has been unanimously awarded the 2014 National Television Award, awarded each year by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports. The historical fiction starring Michelle Jenner and Rodolfo Sancho, which is currently broadcasting its third and final season, has been awarded for "the joint treatment of historical rigor, dissemination for all audiences and its contribution to the dissemination of values. The way in which it reflects such a relevant personality in our history has also been appreciated," in the words of the jury.

Directed by Jordi Frades and co-produced by TVE, Diagonal TV and Telefónica, Isabel accumulates critical and public successes in its three seasons. In addition to the 2014 National Television Award, others should be highlighted such as the Antena de Oro from the Federation of Radio and Television Associations for Best Series of the Year, the Ondas for Michelle Jenner for Best Actress, and the Television Academy Award for Best Actor for Rodolfo Sancho, among others.

Since its premiere in September 2012, the series has accumulated an average audience of close to 3 million viewers. It is also at the top of the most in-demand Spanish Television fictions abroad. Its broadcast rights have been sold to practically all countries on the American continent. In Europe it has been broadcast in the United Kingdom, Portugal, Ireland, Croatia, Bulgaria, France, Russia, countries of the former Soviet Union, the Baltic countries and more than 15 Arab countries.

Every year, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports announces the National Television Award, which recognizes television as an essential tool for the dissemination of culture, as well as its connection with the development and dissemination of cultural industries.

The jury of the 2014 edition has been chaired by Teresa Lizaranzu, general director of Policy and Cultural and Book Industries, and Faustino Díaz, deputy general director of Promotion of Cultural Industries and Patronage, has acted as vice president. As members, Lorena González, director of the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA), Manuel Campo, president of the Academy of Television Sciences and Arts; Marta Abad, Marketing Director of Spanish Television; Ángeles de la Concha, professor of Philology at the National University of Distance Education, expert in research from a gender perspective and Consuelo Sánchez Naranjo, advisory member of the Cabinet of the Secretary of State for Culture.

Isabel se suma así a Tell me how it happened (2009), 23F, El día más difícil del Rey y Narciso Ibáñez Serrador (2010), los Servicios Informativos de TVE (2011), Jesús Hermida (2012), y Concha García Campoy (2013), premiados en anteriores ediciones con este prestigioso galardón que reconoce cada año el trabajo de los profesionales que desarrollan sus funciones en televisión. El premio está dotado con 30.000 euros.
