Shure It now has two microphones designed to improve the audio of both digital SLR cameras with the option to record video, and video cameras. These are the VP83 LensHopper, a condenser microphone that mounts directly on the camera and the VP83F, with integrated flash recording.

Chan Wiggins, director of Shure's wired microphone business, said: "In the DSLR space, we saw a clear demand for compact, rugged, portable, on-camera condenser microphones that also provide natural audio reproduction. The LensHopper models feature the acoustic design of the famous VP82 shotgun microphone, delivering the exceptional sound quality that Shure products are known for."

Shure VP83These ultra-compact shotgun condenser microphones, with suspension isolation system, are designed exclusively with Rycote. Designed for broadcast professionals, cameramen, filmmakers, journalists and video-reporters, they offer an “all-in-one” solution for capturing top-quality, highly directional audio with digital SLR cameras and portable audio/video recorders.

"We worked closely with Rycote to develop a unique, integrated implementation of their world-renowned Lyre suspension system. The suspension offers superior isolation from vibration and mechanical noise, thanks to its custom design. Additionally, the VP83F's flash playback and recording capabilities are highly innovative. This is a feature we knew would be extremely practical for the DSLR community," says Wiggins.

The VP83 and VP83F are ultra-lightweight, durable microphones with all-metal construction and are designed to legendary Shure quality standards. Additionally, both offer superior immunity to RF signals and include highly directional supercardioid polar patterns. With this, they reject unwanted sounds outside the pickup axis. The VP83 also includes easy-access controls, such as a three-position gain switch to make different compensations depending on the specific recording environment in which we find ourselves. It also has a low-cut filter to eliminate background noises.

Flash recording technology

The VP83F's flash recording and playback functionality allows direct-to-device capture of WAV files with 24-bit quantization and 48KHz sample rate. With a dedicated headphone output, the VP83F simplifies real-time monitoring and also offers intuitive menu and controls for quick and easy operation in almost any environment.
