WD expands My Cloud range with network storage (NAS) solutions
Designed for creative professionals, power users and small businesses, the four new My Cloud solutions complete the range of NAS products that include the My Cloud operating system and WD Red drives.
WD has just expanded its range of network storage solutions (NAS) with four new products that respond to the growing demand for storage, data management and protection, and content streaming from small businesses, power users and creative professionals.
The new My Cloud Expert Series range includes the high-performance My Cloud EX2100 (with two drive bays) and My Cloud EX4100 (with four bays) NAS systems, designed specifically for small businesses, as well as professionals and power users who need to securely store, share, backup, transmit and manage large amounts of digital data.
Equipped with the latest version of the Marvell Armanda dual-core processor, these two new additions to the Expert Series range offer maximum read/write speeds for streaming HD multimedia content simultaneously with high performance, plus up to 24TB of storage capacity.
For its part, the new My Cloud Business Series range includes the high-performance NAS systems My Cloud DL2100 (two bays) and My Cloud Business Series DL4100 (four bays), created to provide the reliability, security and scalability that small business customers need. Equipped with dual-core Intel Atom processors and up to 24TB of storage capacity, the My Cloud Business Series features the acclaimed WD My Cloud Linux-based operating system.
My Cloud Expert Series
The new My Cloud Expert Series products are aimed at photographers, video editors, graphic designers and other creative professionals who need to adapt to the increasing size of the files and content they work with, from RAW images to 4K video sequences.
For this they include the latest and fastest Marvell Armada 385 and 388 dual-core processors. They enable high-performance multimedia streaming, provide up to 24TB of storage, and have the ability to keep files safe, secure, and accessible from anywhere. Robust data management and security features give customers the choice of the way they prefer to manage, share and protect their most important movies, photos, music and digital files.
The included WD Red drives can be configured with multiple RAID options (depending on model), including RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, and JBOD modes. Customers can use their My Cloud Expert Series products to centralize storage and backup all of their desktop and laptop computers with WD SmartWare Pro software for Windows users and Apple Time Machine backup software for Mac users.
My Cloud Expert Series products can also serve as a digital entertainment center, capable of seamlessly streaming movies and music to any DLNA/UPnP certified media devices such as game consoles, smart TVs, and WD TV Live media players. Twonky's DLNA-certified media server and iTunes server make it easy to stream large music and movie collections.
Additionally, the built-in file server, FTP server, backup server and P2P download server provide advanced options for managing data. Customers can also customize their My Cloud Expert Series NAS device, monitor system status, manage users and configure power saving features with the My Cloud control panel, as well as use third-party applications such as aMule, Icecast, Transmission, DVBLink, SqueezeCenter, etc.
The new My Cloud Business Series solutions enable small businesses to centralize and protect data across their premises, as well as provide employees with secure access to important information from anywhere. They have the latest Intel Atom dual-core processor, up to 2 GB of RAM and data storage capacities of up to 24 TB. This gives small businesses the performance and scalability they need to meet their business needs.
In small companies, it is essential to have secure access to information, data protection and file backups. My Cloud Business Series products offer small businesses 256-bit AES volume encryption and multiple RAID options (RAID modes 0, 1, 5, 10, JBOD, and concatenation) to secure and protect their data. Customers can also use My Cloud Business Series products to back up all their computers with WD SmartWare Pro software for Windows users and Apple Time Machine support for Mac users.
My Cloud Business Series products also allow you to duplicate content stored on another My Cloud device in a different location or on cloud services such as Amazon S3 and ElephantDrive. Additionally, users can use the one-touch USB 3.0 copy button to automatically copy data from an external USB storage device to the NAS system.
The new WD solutions include numerous enterprise-specific features such as iSCSI target and initiator, file replication and synchronization, integrated FTP server, WebDAV server, SSH Shell, and support for Microsoft Active Directory. Additionally, they feature enterprise-class redundancy, as well as two failover power ports, two Gigabit Ethernet ports, and support for Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS). The My Cloud Business Series range also offers memory expansion up to 6 GB and storage with two NIC cards or via USB.
My Cloud Business Series products are available in various capacities. The My Cloud DL2100 (two bays) is available without drives or in capacities of 4, 8 or 12 TB. The My Cloud DL4100 (four bays) is available without drives or in capacities of 8, 16 or 24 TB. With Easy-Slide-Drive technology, My Cloud Business Series customers can easily install drives or hot-swap them in seconds, without the need for a screwdriver, tools or trays, allowing them to quickly and easily evolve based on customer needs.
Access from anywhere
The award-winning WD My Cloud mobile app offers anywhere access to the entire My Cloud family of products. With this mobile app, users can easily view photos, stream videos, and share, save, and manage files from anywhere on their iOS and Android devices. The mobile app simplifies file sharing and collaboration by allowing customers to easily email files, share files as a link, and open and print files with third-party applications. The WD My Cloud mobile app also integrates major public cloud services so customers can easily transfer files from Dropbox, OneDrive and Google Drive.
