Teresa de Jesús returns to TVE in a TV movie from La Cometa Tv

On the 500th anniversary of its birth, TVE and La Cometa Tv are filming this production directed by Jorge Dorado in Ávila, Soria, Alcalá de Henares and El Escorial.

More than thirty years after Josefina Molina brought the life of Teresa de Jesús to TVE, public television recovers the figure of the saint five hundred years after her birth. Spanish Television has started filming the historical tvmovie in Ávila Teresa. A new vision of the figure of Saint Teresa through the eyes of a young woman of our days who reads one of the main works written by the saint, The Book of life.

Directed by Jorge Dorado and with a script by Juanma Romero, 'Teresa' will star Marian Álvarez, in the role of the saint of Ávila. Completing the cast are Antonio de la Torre, Aitana Sánchez Gijón, David Luque, Carla Díaz and Terele Pávez. Co-produced by TVE and La Cometa TV, Teresa It has the support of the Quincentennial Commission.

Jorge Dorado explica que “hay muchas teresas. La Teresa mística, la Teresa escritora, la Teresa fundadora… Queremos que la película recoja todas estas facetas de una mujer que, sin duda, marcó una época. Hacerlo en un momento tan especial como el V Centenario es un aliciente. Se trata de un año en el que se vuelve la mirada sobre Santa Teresa, para ponerla en el lugar que merece en nuestra cultura”.

La tvmovie “quiere traer al presente una Teresa cotidiana, luchadora, reformista, buscadora, tanto en lo terrenal como espiritual. Queremos acercar un personaje decisivo de nuestra cultura y tradición literaria al espectador del siglo XXI”. Teresa asks “what does a young woman from 2015 have in common with a woman born in 1515?” “The conflicts of the Teresa of our days may not be so different from those of her namesake from five centuries ago,” concludes Dorado.
