Christie CP2208: a projector with xenon lighting for screens up to 10.6 meters
The affordable and compact model is the latest addition to the long list of Christie Solaria projection solutions.
Christie has announced at BIRTV, the International Radio, TV and Film Fair held in Beijing, the launch of its new CP2208, designed to bring high brightness in 3D movies and alternative content to 10.6 meters (35 feet) wide screens with a solid, resistant and easy-to-use 2K design.
The affordable and compact model is the latest addition to Christie Solaria's long list of award-winning xenon-powered projection solutions.
Allan Fernandes, product manager at Christie Cinema Products, highlights that “xenon lighting ensures superior color reproduction, brightness twice that of mercury lamp projectors of similar dimensions, and better overall performance.”
The CP2208 can be purchased with a variety of different lamp sizes and lenses, and offers customers the ability to add an IMB (Integrated Multimedia Block) to their order, which can consist of the Christie IMB-S2 with its fully integrated SMS (display management system) and high-performance storage, or other IMB systems from the popular Series-2.
Compatible with various alternative content sources through dual HDMI ports and DVI connectors, the solution complies with DCI standards, with a 3-chip, 0.69" S2K DLP Cinema chipset from Texas Instruments. Indeed, the 9,000 lumens within the DCI color space, and up to 10,000 lumens for alternative content presentations, make the CP2208 images fully standards-compliant. DCI.
"The increasing difficulty of obtaining copies of films for re-release threatens exhibitors with ending up 'going black'. Therefore, the CP2208 will undoubtedly be a compact solution very well received by those exhibitors who need to offer digital content to price-sensitive viewers, without incurring large capital investments," concludes Fernandes.
Christie plans to begin marketing this new projector around the world starting in October.
