The main broadcasters deployed augmented reality in the Portuguese legislative elections

Using Orad technologies with support from Vantec and wTVision, broadcasters such as RTP or SIC carried out special programs in which the scrutiny continued with a great display of advanced graphics and augmented reality.

On the occasion of the legislative elections in Portugal held on October 4, the main broadcasters carried out special programs in which advanced graphics and augmented reality made it possible to follow the results up to the minute.

After the effective experience of the Catalan regional TV3 based on the technology of Run, Portuguese broadcasters also opted for graphic solutions today integrated into Avid.

The public RTP aired in a large real studio with a set prepared for the event in which augmented reality shined, developed with the support of Reality Orad systems, based on HDVG+ and graphics designed in Orad 3Designer. The production of RTP had the creative and operational service of the Portuguese company wTVision, one of the largest graphic service providers worldwide, which on this occasion had the technical support of Vantec.

For its part, the private SIC deployed two virtual studies with Orad ProSet and Orad Xync infrared tracking. In this case, SIC produced its own virtual sets in which augmented reality was used to create striking effects on set.

SIC used various Orad graphic systems both to produce the graphics, lower 3rd and full screen, and to send a signal to the real video wall or to several virtual video walls, managing various sources with external connections or to insert other graphics.

The creativity was in charge of Bloom Graphics, a company specialized in SIC graphics. The broadcaster also went to the service provider and developer GoTV, experto en servicios y desarrollo para plataforma Orad en esta tarea. Vantec dio soporte a SIC y GoTV en toda la preparación y configuración de la diversa tecnología involucrada.

En la noche electoral portuguesa, otros broadcasters también sacaron partido de la tecnología integrada por Vantec en sus programas especiales como fue el caso de CM TV con soluciones robóticas de Telemetrics o Económico TV con las soluciones virtuales y gráficas de Orad.

Al final de la jornada electoral, el canal RTP Informação se transformo en RTP3 emitiendo desde los estudios virtuales de RTP en Oporto y Lisboa, presentando en pantalla nuevos y mejorados decorados con inserciones de vídeo y gráficos HD.

Toda la linea gráfica de SIC y SIC Notícias cambió a SD en formato 16:9 utilizando las plataformas de Orad, sobre las cuales SIC ya basaba la continuidad, los virtuales, los videowall y también gadgets como información de trafico automóvil en tiempo real.
