The Teatro Real and Hispasat sign a collaboration agreement for the transmission of operas

The Royal Theater and Hispasat They have signed a collaboration agreement this morning, which will allow the promotion of live broadcasts, via satellite, of Teatro Real shows both nationally and internationally.

Through this agreement, the Teatro Real will promote live broadcasts to cultural centers, town halls, hospitals and other institutions throughout Spain, and also outside our borders, thanks to the extensive coverage of the Spanish operator, with special attention to Latin America, where it is the fourth satellite operator. This action reinforces the institution's interest in the dissemination of opera in Spain and its consolidation as a cultural meeting point, and is part of the actions that the Teatro Real will carry out on the occasion of the celebration of its Bicentennial.

According to the signed agreement, which is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility policy developed by the operator and in its support for the cultural dissemination of Spanish institutions, Hispasat will transfer space capacity to the Teatro Real for the live broadcast via satellite of a maximum of ten shows per year, which will also allow its return to cinemas around the world with the broadcast of its shows.

This initiative, similar to what is already being carried out by important opera centers such as the Metropolitan Opera in New York or the Royal Opera House in London, will make available to all audiences the opportunity to access the Teatro Real's programming and enjoy what is performed on its stage, with high definition images and the best sound quality.

The return to the live cinemas of the Teatro Real will take place next July with the broadcast of the opera The Puritans, by Vincenzo Bellini, the last title of the current season at the Madrid coliseum. The work will have musical direction by Evelino Pidò and staging by Emilio Sagi, who will feature the participation of some of the most in-demand voices of the moment such as Javier Camarena, Diana Damrau, Annalisa Stroppa or Ludovic Tezier among others, along with the main choir and orchestra of the Teatro Real.
