RTVE and the EFE Agency sign a collaboration agreement

Its objective is better use of the resources of both public companies, cost savings and the provision of a more efficient and higher quality service.

The president of the RTVE Corporation, Leopoldo González Echenique, and the president of the EFE Agency, José Antonio Vera, have signed today, Friday, a collaboration agreement that aims to make better use of the resources of both public companies, cost savings and the provision of a more efficient and higher quality service. With this agreement, RTVE increases its presence around the world thanks to the support of the EFE agency.

The agreement will involve the joint use of offices in several correspondents and collaboration for the preparation of information in others. Both EFE and TVE workers will continue to be linked to their respective companies.

On the one hand, the door is opened for offices to be shared in the correspondent offices of Mexico City, Bogotá, and Moscow, in a first phase, and that of Rio de Janeiro, in a second phase, if RTVE opens a new correspondent there in 2014. In these offices, EFE will continue to be the owner.

In other cases, EFE correspondents will be counted on to prepare news for RTVE, whether images, chronicles or direct. The first case will take place in Buenos Aires. If the experience is satisfactory for both companies, the plan will be expanded to Havana and even to capitals of the planet not covered until now by RTVE, such as Tokyo and Delhi.

Además, los corresponsales de la Agencia EFE cubrirán también los países limítrofes. La custodia y el archivo del material que se genere serán de Televisión Española.
