This initiative is part of the European research project TV-Ring, which has the participation of TV3, the i2CAT Foundation and Cellnex Telecom.

TV3 multicamAs a complement to the live broadcast of the Champions League match between FC Barcelona and Roma today, Tuesday, TV3 will present an experimental pilot that will allow viewers to access other cameras in addition to the conventional production.

The pilot will also include the possibility of controlling the service through mobile phones or tablets.

This experience will be available in all homes with television sets that comply with the HbbTV 1.5 standard. The development is part of a larger set of tests that are being carried out within the European research project TV-Ring, in which three Catalan partners participate: TV3, the i2CAT Foundation y Cellnex Telecom.

Viewers will be able to tell their experience on Twitter, through the hashtag #MulticamTV3. To obtain as much information as possible about the evaluation of the initiative, after the football match these spectators will also be able to participate in a survey that will allow the users' evaluation to be collected in more detail. Subsequently, it is planned to create a group with some of these most active viewers to hold a workshop aimed at collecting more precise evaluations of the service.

TV3 multicamThis test is the culmination of an extensive set of tests on HbbTV, hybrid television (DTT and internet), that have been carried out in the last two years within the TV-Ring research project, co-financed by the European Community through the CIP ICT PSP program.

This project, which began in September 2013 and will end in February 2016, is led by the i2CAT Foundation, a research center for internet technologies in Catalonia. Apart from this Catalan pilot, other partners carry out pilot projects in the land of Berlin-Brandenburg (Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg) and in Holland (Stichting Nederlandse Publieke Omroep).
