Sony publishes a White Paper on IP production and broadcasting

In the book 'IP Live Production and the business of broadcasting', Sony anticipates its vision of how IP will replace SDI-based infrastructures with the consequent cost savings.

In Sony They are convinced that the future lies in replacing SDI with a new IP environment as the standard in production and broadcast workflows.

At this time, the first steps are already being taken by the main manufacturers, such as Sony, to manage all video, audio, metadata, synchronization and control signals.

What's more, in some cases the foundations are being laid to produce live under IP with equipment such as cameras, monitors, mixers or servers.

In signal management, Sony predicts that expensive and bulky matrices with SDI signals will be replaced in the future by live IP systems capable of routing any signal to any point on the planet.

In this way, coaxial cable and the historic BNC connectors could have their days numbered, giving way to Ethernet and fiber cabling.
