Sony - Nevion - Live production IP Live production

The new white paper of Nevion (Sony) examines different architectural options for live productions and presents a best practice solution for local area networks (LANs) built around IP.

In this white paper, Nevion defends the deployment of network architectures spine-leaf ("purple") shared across all but the smallest networks, as they are best suited to requirements such as scalability, capacity, best use of resources, and resiliency. And, although historically broadcasters have adopted a core IP router To manage live production, these topologies have resilience and scalability issues. The networks spine-leaf segmented ("red-blue") networks offer some of the advantages of spine-leaf shared segments, but they also have some important shortcomings, such as resiliency and worse load balancing.

Olivier Suard, vice president of marketing Nevion, highlights the value of designing an IP architecture according to the needs of each project: "IP technology has brought about a great change in the broadcast industry. It offers agility and flexibility to operations, while maintaining reliability and maximum uptime. But the success of IP implementation depends on a carefully designed infrastructure, and we hope that this white paper will be valuable in helping organizations overcome that challenge."
