The tribute to comedians and the cinema that accompanies us in our lives, axes of the XXI José María Forqué Awards
The ceremony, which will pay tribute to the great performers of Spanish comedy, will feature the participation of the group Tricicle.
The 21st edition of the José María Forqué Awards will have two main axes: the tribute to the great comedians of our country and the cinema that accompanies us in our lives. The ceremony will become a well-deserved tribute to the most outstanding comedy performers in our history, committed to brightening our lives and making us laugh. Under the leadership of the winner of a Goya Award, the actor, director and screenwriter José Corbacho, and the nominee for best leading actress in the last edition, Macarena Gómez, memories and performances will take place, among which it is worth highlighting the group Tricicle, which with more than 30 years on stage is established as one of the most important comic mime companies in the world.
The only award already announced is the EGEDA Gold Medal that distinguishes the career and work of a producer. A recognition that links perfectly with the spirit of this year and that falls to the actor, director and screenwriter Santiago Segura.
The gala will also feature the performance of some of the most important names in music in our country, artists such as Antonio Orozco, Edurne, Manuel Carrasco, Pablo López, or Soraya will perform some of their songs on stage on January 11. Comedy will also play a vital role in this edition; During the ceremony, tribute will be paid to the great performers of this genre.
Antonio Orozco will present his latest work: Destino. An album that has achieved gold status in its first week on sale and whose first two singles Hoy sera and Mírate have immediately placed themselves in the top positions on the main hit lists in Spain. Orozco, with more than 15 years of career, is one of the standards of Spanish music and now embarks on a new tour that will take him to all corners of our country during 2016, a tour led by his latest hit My Hero.
Another ambassador of our art is the Andalusian singer and composer Manuel Carrasco, who will not miss the event either. The author of hymns like Que Nadie or Don't stop dreaming, will present his latest album, Bailar el viento, number one on the sales charts and a double platinum album. Its presentation song, Ya no, has a video clip starring the actress nominated for these awards, Natalia de Molina; a video that has already accumulated more than 7 million views, being one of the most viewed on YouTube Spain.
The male shortlist is completed by another singer-songwriter, Pablo López from Malaga, who both with his recent album The world and the innocent lovers as with his last single your enemy, a duet with the Colombian Juanes, has already obtained the gold record. Pablo, a revelation artist with his first work for which he obtained another gold record and was nominated for the Latin Grammys, is immersed in his El Mundo Tour, where he has already accumulated 15 “sold out tickets” in the first concerts.
On the female side, two names will shine with their own light at the gala that will be held at the Municipal Congress Palace of Madrid (Campo de las Unidas) and will be broadcast on La 1 de TVE. On the one hand, Soraya from Extremadura will flood the stalls with a torrent of voice that has led her to obtain several gold and platinum records and great hits in Spanish and English such as My world without you, The night is for me or Live your dreams. Now she celebrates more than a decade on stage with a DVD book and 2 acoustic CDs of her greatest hits, a milestone for one of the most versatile artists on the national scene who is preparing new projects for 2016.
On the other, Edurne; a multifaceted artist who has stood out in the world of songs, musicals and television. The last representative of Spain in Eurovision has already published six albums, has collaborated with international artists such as Olly Murs and has participated in such notable projects as the latest film adaptation of the classic “Cinderella”, where she performed the main theme in Spanish.
The José María Forqué award will take place on January 11 at the Municipal Congress Palace of Madrid (Campo de las Unidas) and will be broadcast by the first TVE network.
Award for Cinema and Education in Values
There are five films competing for the Film and Education in Values Award, which will be presented on January 11 at the 21st edition of the José María Forqué Awards. Capture the flag, The misunderstood club, Food and shelter, Requirements to be a normal person y in exchange for nothing, are the titles that are eligible for this award granted by EGEDA with the Foundation for Help Against Drug Addiction (FAD). The selection of the finalists is made based on their ability to serve as an educational resource to work on values in children and adolescents; The finalist feature films will be offered the possibility of being included in the Cinema and Education in Values 2.0 program that the FAD coordinates with the collaboration of the Ministry of Health, Social Policy and Equality, EGEDA and various Autonomous Communities and City Councils.
The Prize for Cinema and Education in Values arises as a natural part of the development that the FAD has carried out since 1995, the year in which it began to use cinema as an educational tool given its usefulness at a preventive level. This use has allowed the generation of various educational programs and activities aimed at various population profiles. The creation of the Cinema and Education in Values 2.0 program, which is intended for teachers and students of Primary and Compulsory Secondary Education, is based on three basic objectives: participation in the educational process by encouraging reflection, the use and analysis of the themes of films in order to reduce the appearance of risky behavior and promote a taste for cinema as a source of cultural enrichment.
