Eladio Jareño assumes the direction of Spanish Television
The until now director of the RTVE center in Catalonia was previously responsible for Communication of Alicia Sánchez-Camacho, president of the PP in Catalonia.
The Board of Directors of RTVE has appointed Eladio Jareño as the new director of Spanish Television. The proposal of the president of the Corporation, José Antonio Sánchez, has had the support of the six members of the Council at the proposal of the Popular Party. He replaces José Ramón Díez, who ceased his position as director of TVE on February 25.
Jareño (Barcelona, 1958), graduated in Information Sciences from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, had been director of RTVE Catalonia since 2014. Previously, between 2003 and 2004, Jareño was director of TVE in Catalonia and territorial delegate of the RTVE group in that autonomous community. From that stage, the increase in own production in Sant Cugat and the contribution to national programming with the program stand out. In 2004, Eladio Jareño was appointed director of TVE Children's and Youth Programs by the then general director of RTVE, Carmen Cafarell, a position in which he was ratified by the first president of the Corporation, Luis Fernández. Jareño remained in that responsibility until 2008. During that mandate, self-produced programs such as Leonart or multimedia format under construction, and the project and master plan for Clan, RTVE's children's thematic channel, are prepared.
Since his appointment in 2014 as director of RTVE Catalonia, Jareño has promoted his own production with new spaces destined for national broadcasting (Big Band Clan, Ready for La 2, Forensics, 80 cm e Unsurpassed) and others for Catalonia, such as Animals, That's it, Proper names o Two Many Clips. Regarding radio, during this time there was an increase of 400 hours of live programming on Radio 4 and the consolidation of RNE programming produced in Catalonia.
