Trueba finishes filming 'The Queen of Spain'

After more than ten weeks in different locations in Madrid and Budapest, filming of the sequel to 'The Girl with Your Eyes' concludes.

This Thursday the filming of The Queen of Spain by Fernando Trueba, after more than ten weeks in different locations in Madrid and Budapest.

The film tells the story of one of the incredible shoots that Americans came to film in our country starting in 1956, once the international blockade of the dictatorship ended: Macarena Granada (Penelope Cruz), the great “American” star of Spanish origin, returns to her homeland to play Isabel la Católica. When Blas Fontiveros (Antonio Resines) finds out that he had not returned to Spain since he went to direct The Girl of Your Eyes 18 years ago, he decides to return and meet some of his old friends. His arrival unleashes a series of events that will put filming to the test.

At the end of the filming of the film, Trueba commented that “The Queen of Spain It was born from my desire to make a comedy and to continue with the story of some characters who wouldn't leave me alone, who wanted to continue in my head. But I do not consider it to be a sequel or second part, because it does not tell the same story: As Dumas did with the musketeers, I have only tried to reunite 18 years later some characters who have haunted me all this time.
