Modular transmission infrastructure Axon has played a relevant role in Fuzhou RTV's HD production of the recently held National Youth Games.

Fuzhou RTVHeld at the Haixia Olympic Sports Center in the city of Fuzhou, southern China, the Games saw nearly 8,000 athletes compete in 305 events in 26 sports, including martial arts.

Fuzhou RTV was the host broadcaster of this sporting event, for which it remodeled its studios and controls, adapting them to high definition. Integrator Guangzhou Mindo installed numerous Axon HD broadcast infrastructure equipment including the Synapse AV processing platform, SynView modular multi-display system, SynMC master control system and a SynCross compact modular array.

The broadcaster also used Axon's Cerebrum as its primary control and monitoring solution, providing a complete view of the operational workflow including third-party solutions. Through a customized and easy-to-use graphical interface, Cerebrum has allowed engineers to easily locate any failure and resolve it quickly.

Qinhua Lin, head of technology at Fuzhou RTV, said: "As hostbroadcaster of these Games we feel the pressure and responsibility, especially when using a new broadcast system. However, the success of the broadcast showed the importance of choosing equipment and systems at an early stage. By working closely with system integrators and equipment manufacturers we ensured good communication and feedback with all the actors involved, being able to make a seemingly 'impossible' task possible. The success of these Games was very satisfactory and the entire project allowed our production team to accumulate valuable experience regarding our new broadcast platform.”

For his part, Axon's APAC director, Liming Fu, highlighted that "Axon has a strong reputation as a supplier of high quality, reliable transmission systems, which is essential in the delivery of a live production. Our infrastructure products have been regularly deployed in China to support numerous live produced events such as the 2008 Beijing Olympics, including the live torch relay from Mount Everest and the opening event, the Shanghai World Expo. 2011, the Guangzhou Asian Games in 2012 or the parade on the occasion of the 70th anniversary in 2015 of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance.

Fuzhou RTV's infrastructure with Axon technology includes a redundant system and a high-definition mobile unit, which has been added to its previous fleet of three other vehicles.
