Data Media has implemented a system based on Root6's ContentAgent that provides a central core from which all aspects of a file-based workflow are managed and automated, from ingestion to delivery of that material.

Río 2016

In just over a month, the most important sporting events in the world begin, the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). In the four years that separate us from the previous edition, not only high-level athletes strive to get a medal, but also manufacturers and television organizations exhaustively design the best audiovisual systems and the most advanced flows to give the viewer the best audiovisual experience.

One of the challenges in the search for this increase in quality is the transcoding of files at different frame rates (from 25fps to 30fps and vice versa) seeking the least loss of quality possible. Spanish Television (RTVE) has opted for Data Media Technologies for the integration of a solution that provides technological levels at the level of organizations such as BBC or NBC News.

Data Average has implemented a ContentAgent-based system of Root6 which provides a central core from which all aspects of a file-based workflow are managed and automated, from ingestion to delivery of that material. ContentAgent's advanced frame rate conversion powered by Cinnafilm's Tachyon can replace workflows based on high-cost, premium hardware that add unnecessary conversion operations to/from baseband for conversions from 25 fps to 30 fps and vice versa.

With ContentAgent the transcoding is carried out and in parallel the frame rate conversion is carried out with advanced motion compensation algorithms. These conversions use phase correlation and other motion estimation data, resulting in the best possible quality at a technological level that we currently have available. ContentAgent provides not only complete monitoring of all the processes and infrastructure work carried out but also gives us access to manual control of the processes thanks to the virtual folders function. Additionally, this configuration allows you to register Avid Interplay all the material, maintaining the metadata, and be able to make immediate edits with the material, even while it is being transcoded.

This entire system is integrated on powerful general-purpose hardware, which with the use of Multi-core CPUs and graphics cards Nvidia Tesla with 12GB dedicated, results in high-speed transcoding and frame rate conversion, while allowing the use of RGB and/or YUV color spaces with 8, 10 or 16 bit processing.

This solution integrated by Data Media will mean great cost savings for TVE as well as being at the forefront in performance, versatility and quality to offer its viewers an excellent audiovisual experience of the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.
