Blackmagic Fusion, now also available for Linux
Now users will be able to choose the computing platform they prefer, since this solution for graphic animations and special effects will be available.
The Fusion special effects solution from Blackmagic Design It will now be available for Linux platforms.
Now users will be able to choose the computing platform they prefer, since the program is available for Mac OS X, Windows or Linux computers. In this way, it will be possible to work collaboratively with other artists on the same project regardless of the operating system they use.
Blackmagic also announced that Fusion 8.2 is available for free download, giving users the ability to start using the program immediately.
This version of the program (at the moment, in Beta version) can be used in any commercial project without any restrictions. However, Fusion 8.2 Studio offers more features and is available for just over a thousand dollars. This edition provides an unlimited number of render nodes and other tools for collaborative work. The most extraordinary aspect of Fusion Studio is that there are no additional charges required to maintain the validity of the license, store content on the Internet or purchase more nodes.
Linux, Mac OS X y Windows
Thanks to compatibility with Linux, Mac OS On the other hand, the files created can be opened on any of these computer platforms, which provides greater flexibility to users.
Fusion has been one of Hollywood's favorite tools for special effects and graphic animation for more than 25 years, and has been used in thousands of feature films and television projects, including Marte, Thor, On the edge of tomorrow and the trilogy of the hunger games, among others.
Fusion makes it easy to create sophisticated special effects quickly with its innovative nodal interface. With a variety of built-in tools, users can apply masks, track objects, rotoscope, retouch images, animate titles, and create stunning particle effects in a three-dimensional workspace.
Likewise, Fusion allows you to import 3D models, point clouds, different planes or even three-dimensional scenes in their entirety from other programs such as Maya, 3ds Max or Lightwave and render these elements without errors. On the other hand, tools that take advantage of the additional information contained in the pixels to create effects in the depth of field allow adding or modifying volumetric elements, such as fog, lights or texture reflections in the rendered objects, through normal maps or positioning passes that facilitate the generation of surprising environments in just seconds.
Source code update
Since Blackmagic Design acquired Fusion a couple of years ago, the company's engineers have made a major update to the source code, making it easier for new users to learn while maintaining a familiar look and feel for those who have used the application before. This simplifies the transition from other special effects programs to the Linux version of Fusion.
Fusion 8.2 Studio also provides a free license for an unlimited number of nodes. This allows large studios to create rendering stations at no additional charge, significantly reducing the rendering budget when making high-end feature films and television shows.
Unlike other special effects programs, Fusion does not require you to pay a certain amount of money per rendered node. When you need to render scenes quickly to meet tight deadlines, simply add more nodes instantly and at no charge.
Grant Petty, CEO of Blackmagic Design, commented that "the Linux version of Fusion 8.2 provides special effects and graphic animation experts with an unprecedented number of tools. Fusion is the only comprehensive program for three-dimensional compositions that in turn allows you to render 3D models and add volumetric effects, particles and even moving graphic elements. And the best thing is that users can download it for free today. If a greater amount of features is required for more complex projects, it is also possible to purchase Fusion 8.2 Studio without the need to pay subscriptions or rendering licenses. In this way, the creation of multinodal platforms is facilitated to streamline processes without additional charge.
Finally, it should be noted that Fusion 8.2 Studio is available on the Blackmagic Design website at no additional charge for all users who have a dongle for version 7.7 or higher.
