Dalet Galaxy enables Record News to create an offshore workflow
The turnkey MAM project launched by Dalet on the Brazilian all-news channel integrates a playout solution and allows resources and budget to be optimized with tools that run on standard and affordable IT hardware.
Brazil's 24-hour news channel, Record News, has selected the platform The valley Galaxy as the heart of its workflow for news production and integrated workflow at its headquarters in Sao Paulo and Araraquara. By creating a single content repository for both sites, the Dalet system offers Record News an affordable solution using standard hardware and tools for managing ingestion, searching, scanning, planning, production, news delivery, continuity and archiving.
Francisco Costa, CEO of Record News, admits that "our connected facilities allow journalists to share and exchange information much more quickly. This means that our stories provide the most detailed information possible to viewers, something that in the news business is crucial."
Isaías Oliveira, general director of LM Telecom, responsible for the project, explains why they opted for Dalet: "this is not our first experience with Dalet. The installation at Record Bahia was a great success. The fully integrated system achieved better collaboration across departments while reducing maintenance costs, thus providing a very good return on investment and the confidence to implement it in our project for Record News."
The new facility features Dalet Galaxy Media Asset Management (MAM) with Dalet Brio for ingest and playout management and Dalet Amberfin for transcoding. Dalet's comprehensive metadata management allows Record News to index and ingest content at either of its two locations. The centralized content repository with federated search tools offers journalists great speed in searching for material, allowing them to be shared quickly.
“The Dalet Galaxy platform is designed to scale up and down, economically accommodating newsrooms of all sizes,” says Julien Decaix, general manager of Dalet Americas.
"This was important to Record News who wanted the capabilities of a complete solution in their newsroom without needing to pay the price of an enterprise installation. Our mature platform can be configured to deliver end-to-end news workflow for newsrooms from ten to a thousand journalist positions, as large as 1,000 journalists," observes José Luis Costa, business development manager for the Brazilian market at Dalet.
Integration with ENPS has achieved seamless development of all news while writing tools such as Dalet Onecut offer users simple video editing capabilities for creating multimedia stories on the fly. Thanks to the Dalet Xtend module, Adobe Premiere CC editors have direct access to the content catalog with full metadata tracking and key broadcast provisions such as in-place editing. The new Dalet installation also manages the archive at both locations, with full and partial restore capabilities for both sites.
