The Brazilian subsidiary of Hispasat is going to invest more than 1.5 million reais in the installation of equipment in the main pay television operators in Brazil for the reception of content through extended C band.

HispamarHispamar Satellites, the joint venture formed by Hispasat and Oi, has initiated a strategic commercial action in the Brazilian audiovisual market through which it will invest more than 1.5 million reais in a program to install reception equipment in the main payment operators in the country. In this way, operators will be able to receive their content in both standard C-band and extended C-band, which is less vulnerable to interference, thus encouraging the use of this latter type of frequency in the audiovisual field.

According to Sergio Chaves, Business Director for South America at Hispamar, "one of the objectives of the Hispasat group is to always be at the forefront of technology. By launching a satellite of great power and performance such as Amazonas 2, Hispamar was a pioneer in the use of the extended C band in Brazil, in order to increase the barriers against interference. Now Hispamar assumes the commitment to promote the use of this technology in the broadcasting market so that it can have more options and capacity to transmit. its contents effectively, without the need to incur additional expenses.”

Chaves also announced that “Hispamar is open to evaluating other types of incentives for its clients in the sector.”
At the end of September, when the equipment installations of the incentive program are completed, pay television operators in Brazil will have the possibility of using the extended C band of Amazonas 2, but they will also be able to receive their content on the same antenna through the standard C band of Amazonas 3, since both satellites operate in the same orbital position 61º West.

Participation in Andicom 2016 and SET

Hispasat and its Brazilian subsidiary Hispamar will be present these days at two sector events in Latin America: Andicom 2016, the fair dedicated to the ICT industry in Colombia held in Cartagena de Indias and SET Expo, which takes place in Sao Paulo (Brazil).

On September 1, Leonardo Domínguez, commercial manager for South America of the satellite group, will give a conference on Trends, solutions and new initiatives for Latin America, in which he will present to the public the operator's activity in Latin America, as well as the new projects and solutions planned for the region. At the conference, Domínguez will also talk about the Live Digital Kiosks program, in which the company participates by offering Internet access to more than 648 educational institutions in remote areas of Colombia through the Hispasat 84W-1 satellite, and which since 2013 contributes to the reduction of the digital divide and the development of the Information Society in this country.
