The Infinite Video Platform aims to resolve bottlenecks in launching new IP-based services on STBs and delivering high-quality everywhere video.

Coinciding with CES 2017, Cisco has unveiled its solutions for OTT and IP video delivery such as the Infinite Video Platform, which aims to resolve obstacles in the way of launching new IP-based services in STB and the delivery of high-quality everywhere video.

This solution aims to accelerate the creation of services, and a new advanced watermarking method, designed to eliminate live piracy.

On the other hand, it has presented the Infinite Video Platform Labs community and video laboratory, to work together with its clients, testing the new user functions.

From Cisco they assure that "we know where video consumption is going, to begin with it is a fact that everything is going to IP and mobile. The millennial generation, for example, watches 70% of their TV online, and they consume twice as much mobile video as we do."

In Cisco's opinion, the business model of linear television versus an IP environment is an interesting “puzzle” although they consider that “going multiplatform” does not make sense with today's operating models.

“The nature of open TV implies high fixed and variable costs, but if the costs of video delivery across networks and platforms, as is the case with point-to-multipoint IP delivery, are optimal, there is compensation,” they defend from Cisco.
