In 2016, TVE broadcast more than six hundred Spanish films

It is the highest figure in the last twenty-five years. More than 90% of the Spanish films broadcast last year on television have been seen on La 1 and La 2.

Spanish Television was once again a good showcase for Spanish cinema in 2016. A year in which, with 629 titles, it has included in its programming the highest number of Spanish films in the last 25 years, since audiences have been measured. Between La 1 and La 2, 90.4% of all Spanish cinema offered on general channels has been broadcast. In total, more than 39 million viewers, 87.6%, have watched a minute of cinema on public television.

RTVE is the group that broadcasts the most Spanish cinema, with 629 films (70 on La 1 and 559 on La 2), 107 more than the previous year, compared to only 67 broadcast by the rest of the channels, due in large part to the daily commitment of 'History of our cinema' on La 2. In addition, Spanish feature films have been received with good audience data by viewers, with figures that have improved those of 2015: in La 1, with 9.4%, and in La 2, with 2.6%.

TVE's strong commitment to Spanish cinema has been reflected, especially, in prime time, which totals 325 titles broadcast, the greatest historical dedication to our cinema in that time slot.

In 2016, Spanish Television participated in 24 Spanish films, including Late for anger, by Raúl Arévalo; Juliet, by Pedro Almodóvar; La Jota, by Carlos Saura; The last of the Philippines, by Salvador Calvo and me man by Laura Mañá. He has also opted for animated films with titles such as Buñuel in the Turtle Labyrinth, D'Artacan and the three muskedogs y Yoko and her friends.

The cinema of our country is present in news programs, magazines and in the specialized programs of TVE, such as History of our cinema, Spanish version, Movie days, Neighborhood movies, Attention Works, Movie mornings, Movie afternoons and in the RNE spaces From Movie, It's about cinema y The seventh vice, as well as in the news and cultural programs of Radio Nacional, such as The Critical Eye.

In the 31st edition of the Goya Awards, which will be held on February 4, Televisión Española has 39 nominations and participates in 10 of the films candidates for the highest awards in Spanish cinema: of the five films that are up for best film of the year, two of them (Julieta and Tarde para la ira) have the participation of the Corporation.
