The Teatro Real of Madrid will distribute 'Madama Butterfly' live through Hispasat

Giacomo Puccini's opera can be followed in numerous squares, museums and cultural centers in more than 200 Spanish municipalities. It is the third production of the Teatro Real broadcast by Hispasat within the framework of the Bicentennial of this institution.

Hispasat will broadcast the opera performance tonight (9:30 p.m.) live Madama Buterfly, by Giacomo Puccini, from the Teatro Real in Madrid. The work, one of the most performed operas on stages around the world, will be transmitted in high definition and can be seen in the best image and sound conditions in squares, museums, town halls, auditoriums, cultural centers and other institutions in more than 200 locations in Spain.

This initiative is part of the celebration of Opera Week, in which different activities will be carried out aimed at bringing this musical genre closer to all audiences. In Madrid, as in previous years, three screens will be installed in the Plaza de Oriente to make it easier to follow the broadcast and enjoy this operatic spectacle.

This new broadcast is the third that the operator has made from the Teatro Real, after the broadcast of The Puritans y Otello. Once again, prestigious museums and cultural institutions throughout Spain will offer Madama Butterfly live, highlighting the Prado Museum, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, the National Archaeological Museum, the Círculo de Bellas Artes, the National Film Archive, the Giner de los Ríos Foundation, the Student Residence, and the Canal de Isabel II Foundation in Madrid; the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao; Collection of the Russian Museum of Saint Petersburg and the Carmen Thyssen Museum, in Malaga; Museum of Sciences of Castilla-La Mancha, in Cuenca; the Diocesan Museum of Barbastro-Monzón, in Huesca; the Niemeyer Center in Avilés, in Asturias, among others.

The broadcast of this opera via satellite is part of the collaboration agreement signed between Hispasat and the Teatro Real in November 2015 on the occasion of the Bicentennial of this institution. The agreement establishes the transfer of the necessary space capacity by the satellite operator for the live broadcast of several of the shows that the theater will offer within the framework of this celebration.

The agreement is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility policy of the Spanish satellite operator and its commitment to supporting the cultural dissemination of Spanish institutions. With this collaboration, Hispasat facilitates the opening of the Teatro Real to the outside, allowing its productions to extend beyond its stage to reach other audiences in different places in Spain and the world. In this way, the theater's artistic offering benefits from satellite technology to overcome physical barriers and take opera to the streets, making it accessible to a much larger number of people.
