Taiwanese Coretronic acquires British image processing company Caliber

Coretronic manufactures the largest number of DLP projectors in the world and is the ODM provider for the majority of Tier 1 DLP projector brands on the market.

Coretronic Corporation, based in Taiwan, has completed the acquisition of Calibre, a British manufacturer of image processing technology based in Bradford, Yorkshire.

Coretronic is one of the largest DLP projector manufacturers in the world and ODM provider of most Tier 1 DLP projector brands on the market.

The acquisition of Caliber expands Coretronic's technological capabilities by incorporating Caliber's range of HQUltra image processing technology solutions and its commitment to R&D.

SY Chen, President of Coretronic, acknowledges that this transaction "reflects Coretronic's strategy to strengthen its leadership position in display and image processing technology with a rich set of capabilities offered by the Caliber team. This will assist Coretronic Group with its plans to go further into Pro AV markets, as well as assist in rapid entry into LED direct display markets."

"The acquisition will accelerate the company into new markets and help Coretronic establish itself as a provider of all-round display systems. In particular, Caliber will leverage Coretronic Group's extensive sales coverage and Pro AV channel sales, especially in Asia, North America and Europe."

Former Caliber CEO Tim Brooksbank will continue to lead Caliber UK, now a subsidiary of Coretronic.
