Riedel's new MediorNet MicroN IP application creates workflows, which the manufacturer has dubbed BrIPge, towards an IP environment.

Riedel BrIPge

Based on the concept of software-enabled hardware, Riedel has once again expanded the capabilities of MediorNet MicroN through the introduction of its BrIPge proposal. Coinciding with this IBC, the German manufacturer, which celebrates its 30 years in the market in 2017, has presented this new interface that creates a seamless bridge between MediorNet and IP.

MicroN's IP application supports SMPTE ST 2110/AES67 video and audio, as well as baseband audio (SDI) and audio (MADI). In combination with all the built-in glue functions, including audio embedding and de-embedding, sample rate conversion, audio and video delay, signal routing and on-screen display, the MicroN IP application becomes a tool for all IP interface needs. At the same time, the device can be fully networked with all existing MediorNet products. MicroN IP applications range from a standalone SDI to IP converter to a fully networked system with numerous IP inputs and different baseband inputs and outputs.

MicroN IP includes up to four high-speed MediorNet links, up to four SMPTE 2110-20 inputs and outputs, four baseband 3G-SDI signals, and eight 3G-SDI outputs. Four of these outputs are dedicated to monitoring SMPTE ST 2110-20 streams.

It also supports up to 128 channels of AES67 audio, two optical MADI ports, and synchronized I/O. MicroN IP fully supports NMOS device discovery and registration and connection management or can be manually configured when used with non-NMOS devices, including importing or exporting SDP files. Control can be achieved through MediorWorks software or through NMOS.

At IBC Riedel also exhibits the possibilities of MediorNet KVM, a plug-and-play solution for MediorNet users interested in remote communication of PCs through their MediorNet networks.

This solution consists of two plug-and-play units that provide lossless transmission of DVI video signals up to full 1080P along with transparent USB 2.0 and stereo analog audio. The host-side box features a DVI-I input, a DVI-I loop-out, a USB-B input, and 3.5mm jacks for audio I/O.

Riedel MediorNet KVMFor its part, the remote device has a DVI-I output, four USB-A outputs and analog audio I/O. KVM extenders use MediorNet Ethernet capabilities and access the system through Ethernet ports available on MediorNet frames.

Use cases for MediorNet KVM include accessing a remote PC over Ethernet and the ability to move PCs away from desktops in properly climate-controlled areas. Switching can be done by switching Ethernet tunnels via MediorWorks, MediorNet Control App or third-party control.
