Thirty years have passed since a young Thomas Riedel, just 19 years old, founded Riedel Communications in Wuppertal, a town in the heart of North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany) where 350,000 inhabitants live today. Three decades later, Riedel is a leading international leader in innovative solutions for video, audio and real-time communications and employs more than half a thousand professionals in the twenty locations in which it operates throughout Europe, Australia, Asia and America.

30 years RiedelThese solutions are used in countless applications from broadcasting, events, stage venues, security or aerospace, being present in major world events such as the Olympic Games, Formula 1, the Football World Cups, the Eurovision Song Contest or the spectacular exhibitions and competitions organized around the world by Red Bull, to name just a few examples. It was also involved in communications during Austrian Felix Baumgartner's historic jump from the stratosphere in 2012. Now, it is preparing to provide the communications and signals infrastructure for the first corporate mission to the moon prepared by Berlin-based PTScientists. PTScientists aims to be the first private company to land on the Moon, with the help of key partners such as Riedel, Audi and Vodafone. Next year, Mission to the Moon will attempt to place a spacecraft on the lunar surface, deploy two lunar vehicles based on Audi's Quattro technology under remote control and broadcast live video to Earth in HD.

Riedel is focused on three business areas: manufacturing innovative solutions; rental and development of special projects, supplying all the technology for audio, video and communication networks at large events; as well as a radio division, as Riedel is one of Motorola's authorized business partners in Europe (since 1991).

Wuppertal dresses up to party

To celebrate these thirty years of success, Riedel organized a party on December 1 at its “headquarters” Riedel Technologie Park in Wuppertal, attended by more than two thousand guests from forty countries, which included, in addition to the team of Riedel professionals around the world, the main partners, suppliers and customers.

30 years RiedelThroughout a dozen spaces set up in the industrial complex, and with a spectacular setup in which even the smallest detail had been taken care of, guests were able to enjoy endless musical performances and exquisite cuisine from half the planet.

The person in charge of opening the ceremony was the director of Riedel in the United Kingdom, Paul Rivens, who gave way to Andy Gall. The current Chief Innovation Officer of Red Bull Media House gave an ironic review of Thomas Riedel's professional career in which Rivens has always been very present since he founded the company in a small premises in his hometown, Wuppertal, until today.

For his part, an excited Thomas Riedel, despite the slogan chosen for this event No time to be sentimental He thanked the support of those who have contributed their grain of sand to make the company a global benchmark. Riedel went back to his youth ensuring that this project would not have been possible without the passion that both he and the professionals who accompany him put into it every day.

30 years RiedelHe also reviewed some of the milestones that have marked the company's history, such as the launch of the popular Artist intercom digital matrix, the innovative Mediornet technology capable of transporting audio, video and moments over a fiber network in real time and, more recently, the premiere of the revolutionary Bolero intercom system described by many as “a before and after” in the intercom concept.

Riedel recognized that all these achievements are the fruits of the commitment to R&D as well as the “excellent engineers” who conceive and develop their solutions.

30 years RiedelIn the different spaces in which the celebration took place, ranging from a spectacular auditorium surrounded by mapping projections to an almost mystical environment with a floor with tons of sand simulating the lunar surface and a dome-like vault with a dozen projectors. Christie projected relaxing textures... Riedel managed to create the perfect setting for a celebration that will surely also serve as an opening for another thirty years of success in which four words that Thomas Riedel and his team combine perfectly will be very present: innovation, engineering, logistics and marketing.
