Since 2010, Festival de Málaga has been celebrating a Coproduction Meeting with Latin America in which a country in this territory becomes the protagonist. This initiative was born with the aim of being a meeting point between Latin American producers, distributors and investors from Spain and the rest of Europe with the aim of promoting the co-production of Latin American projects destined for the international market.

In 2018, Festival de Málaga is very proud to have Brazil, a country that houses one of the most important cinematography in Latin America. To achieve this, the Malaga competition has the essential support of various institutions from the guest country: Cinema do Brasil, Apex Brasil, Ancine, Brazilian Embassy in Spain and the Hispanic Brazilian Cultural Foundation.

Latin American Focus will be held on April 18 and 19 and wants to offer Brazilian projects a useful co-production meeting that focuses on the editorial line of each of the projects participating, with a selection of guests related to the productions presented.

Four projects from Brazil participate in this event and a committee of experts selects the group of European producers related to the productions. The selected projects are: and produced by F64 Filmes; The pregnant ones, by Pedro Wallace with production by Kinopus Audiovisual; Body present, by Leonardo Barcelos and produced by Trem Chic; Matte paraisoblack, by Samuel Carro with Clario Filmes in production.

This forum seeks to become a useful tool for participating projects. To this end, they will be facilitated with access to and knowledge of the different financing channels, the search for international co-production for their film projects, and networking among companies in the audiovisual sector of the guest country will be encouraged.
