Un total de 42 títulos han sido seleccionados ya para MAFF, Málaga Festival Fund & Coproduction Event; Málaga Work in Progress y Latin American Focus – Argentina.

Ventana Sur has been the place chosen by the Malaga Festival to announce the projects selected to participate in some of the events of MAFIZ (Málaga Festival Industry Zone), its industry section, which will celebrate its second edition in 2019 within the framework of the 22nd Malaga Festival. Cinema in Spanish (March 15 to 24). In its internationalization strategy, the largest market dedicated to Latin American cinema, which is being held these days in Buenos Aires, constitutes one of the fundamental events for the Malaga Festival, where the festival's director, Juan Antonio Vigar, has moved.

The presentation took place on December 12, with institutional support at the highest level, with the presence of Beatriz Navas, general director of the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA) of Spain, and Pierre Emile Vandoorme, executive secretary of the Conference of Audiovisual and Cinematographic Authorities of Ibero-America (CAACI), among other personalities. It also had the support of Ralph Haiek, president of the Argentine National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA), who could not attend due to scheduling problems.

MAFIZ cuenta con una serie de eventos diseñados para que profesionales de la industria cinematográfica de Iberoamérica y Europa desarrollen nuevas redes de negocios. De estos eventos, el director de Festival de Málaga anunció los proyectos seleccionados para participar en la segunda edición de MAFF, Málaga Festival Fund & Coproduction Event; Málaga Work in Progress y Latin American Focus, evento este último que contará con Argentina como país invitado de honor.

MAFF, Málaga Festival Fund & Coproduction Event

MAFF is an event designed to generate a real bridge between new Ibero-American film production and European audiences, eager to be surprised by the strength, identity, diversity, multiculturalism and color of Latin America. This is reflected in the chosen projects, which stood out in a rigorous evaluation and selection process and which will meet next March in Malaga with the team of experts, funds and other participants in the audiovisual ecosystem that make up MAFF.

The selected projects are:

· Empty house – Brazil
· Rib – Dominican Republic
· Democracy – Brazil
· Pain of a dirty beast – Mexico
· Lala – Mexico
· The immortality of the crab – Mexico
· The pack – Colombia
· The fifth – Argentina
· The southeast – Argentina
· The new route – Cuba
· The translator – Chile/France
· The strata – Colombia
· Proper names – Argentina
· Sea – Argentina
· Crowd – Colombia/Spain
· Pollen – Uruguay
· Vicenta – Argentina

Other projects are added to this selection, the result of agreements with the Santiago International Festival of Chile (SANFIC); Brazil Cinemundi; the Directorate of Audiovisual, Phonography and New Media of Peru (DAFO) and with the incubator of documentary projects, developed by the INCAA. Are:

· Diogenes – Peru
· Without loneliness – Chile
· Lavra – Brazil. This project inaugurates a new window within the MAFF, called Social MAFF, a section that aims to highlight the commitment of Festival de Málaga with content that contributes to human development, social inclusion and the improvement of the quality of life.
· Guru (from Victoria Comune) and Telma, the cinema and the soldier (from Salamanca cinema). Projects from the INCAA incubator.

Málaga Work in Progress

Málaga Festival, in its strategy of promoting the development of audiovisual content and new forms of cinematographic expression, celebrates for the second year the Málaga Work in Progress (Málaga WIP) industry event. An event that, given its very rapid growth, has been divided into four categories to accommodate and identify all the projects received. These categories and the selected projects are:

Málaga WIP Lab:
· Motorcycle – Argentina
· Panquiaco – Panama
· Filho de Boi – Brazil
· On the stability of the 3 bodies – Mexico
· Ghosts – Guatemala
· Harmoniums – Spain

Málaga WIP Doc:
· The pain of cicadas – Colombia
· The sky is red – Chile
· Shards – Argentina
· Sleeping life – Argentina. Project selected at the Buenos Aires International Documentary Film Festival (FIBDA)

Málaga Latam WIP:
· A distant fire – Chile
· Samson – Ecuador
· The border – Colombia. Selected project in SANFIC
· The boat – Argentina. From the Raymundo Gleyzer Award

The projects that will participate in Málaga Spanish WIP will be announced soon.

Latin American Focus

The objective of this MAFIZ event is to focus on the audiovisual industry of a Latin American country, this time Argentina. To this end, a series of activities will be carried out in coordination with the INCAA, National Institute of Audiovisual Arts of Argentina, to promote meetings between professionals and promote the audiovisual industry of this country.

The four projects that will participate in this edition of Latin American Focus – Argentina are:
