DirecTv Latin America selects Aspera
DirecTv Latin America (DTLA) has selected Aspera Software solutions in a new project that aims to streamline the editing, post-production and distribution of content by considerably reducing its dependence on video tapes.
Aspera had worked with DirecTv in the US for several years, beginning his relationship with the division in Latin America last year. At that time, the study of a technological reconversion was launched in eleven of the DirecTv Latin America facilities in order to implement a tape-based workflow.
Due to the huge number of channels and signals managed by DirecTv, it was necessary to implement control of the entire flow from its transmission facilities in the United States, Mexico and South America, coordinating the work with the rest of the centers.
In the early phases of integrating Aspera's solutions, DirecTv believes it has already reduced the cost of high-definition tapes by 35-40%, while increasing productivity in a secure, robust and flexible environment that is reliable for moving large files by adapting their transport to the available bandwidth. Since many DirecTv providers have medium speed networks, it was essential to adopt a solution capable of managing the speed of the network to avoid failures and interruptions in the sending of packets, especially with high definition signals.
