The Cinesa Talent Scholarship will allow a first-year ESCAC student to access the Degree in Cinematography for free each year.

“I wish initiatives like this had existed when I started studying,” says Javier Ruiz Caldera, filmmaker and ambassador of the Cinesa Talent Scholarship.

Cinesa has launched alongside the Higher School of Cinema and Audiovisuals of Catalonia (CHESS), the Cinesa Talent Scholarship, through which each year it will help a young student fulfill their dream of becoming a filmmaker, studying at a leading state university.

“As a leading company in the sector and committed to the film industry, we believe that we must take an active role in the training of young talents to contribute to quality national production,” explains Héctor Premuda, head of marketing at Cinesa.

Thanks to the Cinesa Talent Scholarship, every year, A first-year student will be able to access the Degree in Cinematography at no cost. of registration, with the possibility of extension for the following two years and thus covering the total cost of the Degree offered by the ESCAC. The Cinesa Talent Scholarship is aimed at students residing in Spain (minimum one year), who will be evaluated by a panel made up of the exhibitor, the ESCAC and the film director and ambassador of the Cinesa Talent Scholarship, Javier Ruiz Caldera.

Ruiz Caldera is one of the film directors of the moment since, thanks to him, emblematic characters such as Anacleto, secret agent created by Manuel Vázquez, or the mythical Super López, at the end of this year, have made the leap to the big screen. Like Juan Antonio Bayona, Mar Coll, Kike Maíllo, Patricia Font... Ruiz Caldera studied at the Higher School of Cinema and Audiovisuals of Catalonia (ESCAC) and today he continues to share filming and productions with his fellow students.

“As an ESCAC alumnus, it is an honor to be able to be part of this initiative and add to this synergy between Cinesa and ESCAC to help restless young people in their training,” says the film director and ambassador of the Cinesa Talent Scholarship, Javier Ruiz Caldera. "The ESCAC was the beginning of everything I am today and that is why I encourage all those young people who are passionate about cinema to fight for their dream and participate in this initiative that can open many doors for them. I wish initiatives like this had existed when I started studying," he adds.

Since its founding in 1994, More than 5,000 students of 23 nationalities have passed through the ESCAC classrooms, from which some of the most renowned Spanish filmmakers have emerged, resulting in more than 40 nominations in technical categories and 20 Goya awards.

"ESCAC is a unique and singular project. For us it is essential to offer a scholarship program that facilitates access for young students and this program would be impossible without the contribution of committed companies like Cinesa," explains Sergi Casamitjana, managing director of ESCAC.

This initiative, which is committed to young talent by supporting those with fewer resources to offer them the same opportunities, is part of the social responsibility program that Cinesa is developing through its CSR Master Plan, which includes the Company's guidelines and objectives in this area for the next three years. Through this plan, Cinesa aims to create a positive impact through its involvement in projects that seek to improve the situation of the local community in which it carries out its activity and that of its workers, encourage respect for the environment, lead the role of the film industry in society and consolidate an action protocol based on a code of ethics and good governance.
