VSN, Telefónica and Watchity join RTVE's 'Journalism Innovation HUB' project
The HUB, a Spanish Television project that was born with the objective of studying the digital transformation of news programs, begins its activity at the Almagro Classical Theater Festival.
The project Journalism Innovation HUB of RTVE adds new companies to its activity. After the entry of Telefónica, the HUB will also have the participation of VSN y Watchity. The project will begin its activity during the 41st edition of the Almagro International Classical Theater Festival, which will be held during the month of July, and which will serve as a communication laboratory.
Journalism Innovation HUB is an RTVE project that was born with the objective of studying the digital transformation of news, including new technologies and new ways of making news reach the viewer. This is an open project, whose results will be used for radio, television and interactive media, which aims to ensure that all tools and functionalities are implemented in “the cloud”, without the use of local infrastructure.
The HUB Journalism Innovation It has the collaboration of companies that share with RTVE the interest in the study of new audiovisual technologies. The first to join was Telefónica, which participates in the joint study of alternatives for the communication of information to the audience and the interrelation with it, as well as in all the tests related to the new 5G technology applied to the new communication model.
Watchity has also joined this project, a company that has developed a live video “cloud” production platform, which combines mobile capture, cloud multi-camera filmmaking and multi-channel distribution to create new digital formats and narratives. At the RTVE HUB it will focus on multi-camera production on cloud servers.
In addition, we must add the participation of VSN, a global technology company specialized in the development of IT solutions and broadcast software for business process management, production of news or live events and automation of the broadcast and distribution of content. This company will participate in the issues of editing and content management in “the cloud”, for automatic indexing and documentation tasks.
The corporate general director of RTVE, Enrique Alejo, highlighted in this event “that the information laboratory that is going to be piloted from Castilla La Mancha is very important for the RTVE Corporation.” In relation to the signing with the Almagro Festival, Alejo highlighted the "great satisfaction of the Corporation for acting as a bridge between two worlds, the Almagro Classical Theater and cutting-edge technology."
Collaboration with the Almagro Festival
The RTVE HUB will begin its activity during the 41st edition of the Almagro International Classical Theater Festival thanks to the agreement signed this Wednesday by the corporate general director of RTVE, Enrique Alejo, and the director of the Almagro International Classical Theater Festival Foundation, Ignacio García.
Through this collaboration, the Almagro Festival will share its infrastructure and activities in order to participate in the RTVE HUB's objective of studying the digital transformation of news, including new technologies and new ways of working so that the communication of this type of events reaches the viewer. The objective is for this cultural event to mix the classic with new technologies and also to be a point of reference in the communication of this type of content to the audience.
