AI Realization (Pixabay Photo)

Next Generation EU funds finance a Spanish generative AI project powered by Watchity for the production of live events with a technology that will be capable of making production decisions in real time by analyzing and interpreting the context of an event.

As technology advances and tools become more accessible, organizations have recognized the power of audiovisual content to convey messages effectively and engagingly. Until now, professional audiovisual production for events has only been within the reach of experts in video production and production, as it requires specific knowledge about the theme and operation of the event being produced.

Fortunately, thanks to the proliferation of technology artificial intelligence generative, the ability to have a virtual director is getting closer, and with it, the possibility of expanding the professionalization of audiovisual production to many other areas.

The project is designed to carry out common events in the business environment such as press conferences, product presentations or webinars.

This new technology will be able to analyze, understand and interpret the context of the event to be able to make, in real time, production decisions such as switching shots, creating multi-camera scenes, activating virtual sets or generating 2D or 3D graphics.

Some of the technologies that the platform will have, based on machine learning, are the identification of people, movement patterns and expressions through image and voice or the detection of objects, among others.

The project, which has the collaboration of VRAIN (Valencian Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence) contemplates, on the one hand, the development of the technology and, on the other, its training by professional filmmakers, so that it “learns” from them.

Albert Rodes, CEO of Watchity explains that "thanks to the invaluable financial aid from the European Union and the Government of Spain through the CDTI, this new technology will allow professional audiovisual communication to be democratized in companies and will represent a before and after in the application of video at events."

The project has received financing of European funds Next Generation EU within the framework of the Plan to Promote the Audiovisual Sector Spain Audiovisual Hub of Europe, the Digital Spain 2025 Agenda, the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan and the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research 2021-2023, through the aid program for R&D projects in the audiovisual and video game sector managed by the CDTI (Center for Technological Development and Innovation), a center dependent on the Ministry of Science and Innovation.
