Carballo Interplay will thus offer a complete overview of what is happening in the world of web series on a global level. As usual, humor will have an overwhelming presence (22 of the 42 finalist webseries are comedies), but there will also be room for drama and for the middle path, dramedy, for documentaries and mockumentaries and for thrillers, science fiction, romance, musicals or horror.

The 42 finalist webseries will be screened in six blocks (three international and three from Spain) on the afternoons of Thursday the 5th, Friday the 6th and Saturday the 7th of April, in the Auditorium of the Carballo Culture House, on the Costa da Morte. Carballo Interplay Activities program

The fifth edition of the Carballo Interplay Digital Content Festival (CIP), held every year on the Costa da Morte, delves deeper with its program of activities into the search for imagination and creativity in new digital formats.

In addition to its official web series competition, the festival offers in this edition (which will be held from April 4 to 7) a complete program of talks, shows, concerts, meetings and premieres. In this programming, all of which is free and open access, there will be a place for humor, education and reflection.

Thus, the youtubers Percebes y Grelos and Belena Gaynor will participate in Interplay explaining the success on social networks of the last edition of Operación Triunfo, in which they were part of their team. Her presence joins that of other highly popular multidisciplinary creators on the Internet, such as Abi Power, Perra de Satán or Carlo Padial. The latter, known for films like My crazy Erasmus o Something very big, presentará en Carballo su nuevo espectáculo Guasa & Melanco, donde continua su exploración conjunta del humor y la incomodidad. También llevará comedia al Interplay el show de radio en directo Eye Care, hosted by Víctor Grande and which has its usual ingredients in the sketches, the interaction with the public and the special guests.

However, the laughter at Interplay will not be limited only to these shows. Humor runs through a good part of the content created by the YouTubers who will visit Carballo this year and, without a doubt, will be seen in the talks they will star in. Thus, Abi Power, who has just appeared in Santiago Segura's new film, will debate with Perra de Satán, Belena Gaynor and Teresa Segura about what a world would be like in which beauty standards did not exist.

It is precisely common for alternative identity models to be promoted and claimed from the networks, and another of the CIP conversations will deal with the construction of public identity on the Internet with the help of Percebes y Grelos, Abi Power and Perra de Satán. The talk program is completed with a look at multimedia and journalism aimed at the millennial public, with professionals from Tentaciones (El País), Playground, Yasss and Vice España; and with a colloquium in which secondary school teachers who developed educational audiovisual projects with their students will participate.

In addition to the talks, in which different personalities will share and compare opinions, this year the CIP offers a series of meetings closer to the idea of a conference. In addition to Percebes y Grelos and Belena Gaynor's story of their experience in OT, Carballo's audience will be able to enjoy Before all this was mambo, the Audiovisual Source Code of Carlangas, voice and guitar of Novedades Carminha. In it he will address the idea “of tourism as the great scam of this century.” For its part, the legal consultancy specialized in technology NoLegalTech will offer a “small survival guide for teenagers with mobile phones”, with tips to maintain power over our information on the Internet. Finally, we will learn more about the Youtubeir@s project, which promotes the creation of content for Youtube in Galician, listening to finalists of its first edition such as Eira Losada or Nuria Espasandín.

Carballo Interplay Premieres

This year, Interplay hosts the premiere of several projects outside of its official web series competition. The most anticipated, due to its close connection with the festival, is probably Is there life in Bran?, the winning series in the last edition of the award for best web series project in Galician. Directed and starring Ángela Andrada, this comedy with dramatic overtones tells the return of a failed artist to her mother's house in the boring village of Bran.

The other main premiere, The cold spot, also has a special link with Galicia. This production by RTVE and Dadá Films for the Playz platform recovers the legend of the Santa Compaña through the character of a boy obsessed with the paranormal, who arrives in a Galician town convinced that a mysterious phenomenon is about to happen. These premieres are added to the screening of the web series from Camp Kamikaze, which will be held the days before the festival on Razo beach.

The CIP activities program is completed with two concerts. The French MounQup, who has lived in rural Ourense for years, will star in a vermouth session with her electronic music that is both powerful and intimate. Often compared to Björk for the power and variety of registers of her voice, she presents her album Proof of son. The closing concert will be performed by IGMIG. This trio from Vigo practices a quite unusual mix of styles: post-punk, progressive rock, funky, electronica or elements of classical music are combined in their case under the umbrella of delirious humor. The festival will close with a performance by Percebes y Grelos DJ.
