The Spanish co-production 'Everyone knows it' will open the Cannes Film Festival

The film directed by Iranian Asghar Farhadi and produced by Memento Films Production and Morena Films will compete for the Palme d'Or.

The latest film by director Asghar Farhadi, the Spanish co-production everyone knows it starring Penélope Cruz, Javier Bardem and Ricardo Darín, will open the 71st Cannes Film Festival on May 8. It will also compete for the Palme d'Or in the official section

Asghar Farhadi returns to Cannes after The Client (The salesman), awarded the Oscar for best foreign language film in 2017 and winner of the awards for best actor and best script at Cannes 2016. Asghar Farhadi also won the Oscar for best foreign language film in 2012 with Nader and Simín, a separation (A Separation). The Iranian director's new film will open the festival on May 8 and will compete for the Palme d'Or.

Penélope Cruz, Javier Bardem and Argentine actor Ricardo Darín give life to the main characters and Bárbara Lennie, Inma Cuesta, Eduard Fernández, Elvira Mínguez, Ramón Barea and Carla Campra complete the cast.

Filming took place in Spain, in the town of Torrelaguna and in other locations in Madrid and Guadalajara, and the film was shot entirely in Spanish.

This psychological thriller accompanies Laura from Buenos Aires to her hometown in Spain, where she travels to attend a party. What should be a brief family visit will be affected by some unexpected events that will change their lives forever.

Asghar Farhadi ha contado con destacados técnicos del cine español, entre ellos José Luis Alcaine como director de fotografía, Sonia Grande como directora de vestuario, habituales ambos de la filmografía de Pedro Almodóvar y el músico Javier Limón ha compuesto las canciones originales.

Clara Notari, conocida por Relatos salvajes y El Ché, se ocupa de la dirección artística. El montaje de la película corre a cargo de Hayedeh Safiyari quien había trabajado previamente con Asghar Farhadi en Nader y Simón, Una separación y El cliente.
