'Eva' will inaugurate the Sitges Festival

'Eva' is the first robot film produced in Spain, and arises from the Ópera Prima project of ESCAC/Escándalo Films. The film has a very high-level technical team trained at the Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya.

Paramount Pictures and Escándalo Films, a production company associated with ESCAC (Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya) will open with the futuristic thriller Eva the International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia/Sitges next October 6, 2011.

The film marks the directorial debut of Kike Maíllo (with extensive experience in advertising and video clips), and stars Daniel Brühl (Damn bastards, Salvador), Marta Etura (Cell 211, The Thirteen Roses), Alberto Amman (Cell 211, Lope), Lluís Homar (Broken hugs, The city of wonders) and the presentation of the girl Claudia Vega as Eva.

The film combines an emotional plot focused on the personal conflicts of the protagonists with a reflection on the relationship between humans and machines. With an innovative staging and a retrofuturistic aesthetic, Eva aims to bring science fiction to the general public.

A science fiction story far from the clichés of the genre, a dramatic adventure that raises an absolutely topical debate.

Synopsis

In a near future in which human beings live alongside mechanical creatures, Álex, a renowned cybernetic engineer, returns to Santa Irene with the specific task of the Faculty of Robotics to create a robot child. In these ten years of absence, life has continued its course for her brother David and for Lana who, after Alex left, rebuilt her life. Alex's routine will be unexpectedly altered by Eva, Lana and David's daughter, a special and magnetic girl, who from the first moment establishes a relationship of complicity with Alex. Together they will embark on a journey that will lead them to a revealing ending.
