Lawo mc2 56

Theirs At this NAB 2018, the third generation of mc digital consoles debuts with the new mc²56, taking another step in this range with hundreds of operational units around the world.

The new mc²56 incorporates innovative features taken from the iconic Lawo mc²96 console but without sacrificing the identity of its predecessors, retaining a compact size, flexibility and a versatile design that allows applications ranging from mobile units or broadcast studios to live performances and recordings.

Optimized for IP video production environments, the new mc²56 has full native support for SMPTE 2110, AES67/RAVENNA and DANTE. Its excellent networking performance is taken to the next level by adding unique capabilities such as IP-Share Gain Compensation and DSCA Dynamic Surface to Core Allocation.

Lawo NAB 2018Available in frames from 16 to 112 faders, the mc²56 supports up to 8,192 x 8,192 crossovers, 888 DSP channels, 144 summing buses, and 128 aux buses with 44.1 – 96kHz operation. Additionally, for touch-sensitive color encoders with illuminated buttons, new color TFTs offer mixed color grading of channel rows for improved visibility for faster access in low light, while Lawo's revolutionary LiveView offers thumbnail previews of video streams directly on the fader labeling screens.

With a 64-fader surface compatible with most mobile unit dimensions, a separate 16-fader extender can be added to a mc²56 for later expansion at any time.

The innovatively capable console bridge, which supports 21.5” full HD touchscreen displays, contains two spaces for individual user panels, which can be completed by choosing from five options – 40 additional buttons, a TC automation panel, a dedicated Reveal Fader panel, an RTW TM7 goniometer or an RTW TM9 (occupying both spaces) – the choice is yours.

Initially required for broadcast applications, console-mounted volume metering is also useful in live, theater or house of worship applications, offering volume control in accordance with ITU 1770 (EBU/R128 or ATSC/A85) with volume and peak metering, either independently or in combination.

The console's local I/Os provide two network-over-IP interfaces for redundant connection of the surface local I/Os to the Nova73 router, following the principles of error-free flow fusion and port redundancy. Comprehensive local inputs/outputs include 16 Lawo-quality Mic/Line inputs, 16 Line outputs, eight AES3 inputs and outputs, eight GPIO plus a local MADI port (SFP).

Lawo's mc²56 is not limited to standalone operation, but has been designed from the ground up for networking into complex production infrastructures via IP (SMPTE2110, RAVENNA/AES67, DANTE) or MADI.

Lawo NAB 2018

Multiviewer IP real

Lawo also launches this NAB 2018 the first true infinitely expandable IP multiviewer vm_dmv64-4. Complementing the vm_mv16-4 and vm_mv24-4 multiviewer line, the new vm_dmv64-4 virtual module (VM) for Lawo's V__matrix IP multiviewing, processing, routing platform breaks the mold of conventional multiviewers, offering unlimited inputs and heads, as well as full SDI and IP source compatibility in 4K/UHD, 3G, HD and SD.

Lawo V__matrix8_vm_dmv64Supports embedded, discrete audio and pixel-perfect tiling with ultra-low latency. Intuitive drag-and-drop tile setup is made easy with Lawo's “theWALL.”

Lawo's vm_dmv64-4 is a distributed multiviewer in which multiple modules are connected. These modules can be hosted in the same V__matrix framework, in different frameworks or even in different geographic locations – basically, anywhere – joining forces as long as they are connected via IP.

Each vm_dmv64-4 has an input stage that supports up to 24 sources of any combination of 4K/3G/HD/SD, which is only limited by physical (up to 18 SDI inputs) or network (2x 40GbE) inputs and outputs. These sources are reduced by vm_dmv64-4, which returns them to the network as mipmaps encapsulated over IP (RFC 4175).Lawo SmartDASH

SmartDASH

Also new at the Lawo stand is SmartDASH, the new real-time monitoring and telemetry system. It is a non-vendor software suite designed to deliver comprehensive network and media visibility across all-IP, all-SDI or hybrid WAN/LAN broadcast infrastructures.

Strategically positioned to bridge the gap between video engineering and IT, SmartDASH addresses both sides of the operation to provide a comprehensive view of what a network does and how the media streams it carries behave.
