Sharp arrives for the first time at NAB with an 8K ecosystem proposal
The new 8C-B60A 8K camera, the 8K HDR monitor and an 8K video wall made up of 8 impressive 8″x104″ panels make up Sharp's 8K solution offering.
For the first time Sharp exhibits at NAB its solutions for professional broadcast environments. Under the motto Changing the world with 8K, the Japanese manufacturer is carrying out several product demonstrations in Las Vegas such as its new 8K camera accompanied by a professional monitor demonstrating the present and future of the 8K ecosystem.
The 8K camera enables 8K capture, recording, playback and playback while the 70-inch 8K monitor provides the opportunity to experience high-quality, high-definition images that conform to the standard 8K image by supporting high dynamic range (HDR) at 8K (7680 x 4320) resolution.
Capture at 8K and 10 bits at 60 fps
The new 8C-B60A is capable of capturing 8K, 10-bit video at 60 fps (7,680 x 4,320, or around 33 megapixels) thanks to its Super 35mm sensor, similar in size to RED's popular Helio Weapon 8K.
In camcorder mode, the camera is capable of recording up to 40 minutes of video at 8K resolution thanks to a 2TB SSD unit developed in collaboration with Astrodesign.
The new Sharp camera stands out for its versatility for shooting both in the studio and on location or ENG (its design is reminiscent of the typical shoulder camcorder) in very different productions from direct to fiction. Its PL mount allows you to use lenses from Zeiss, Leica and other manufacturers whose lenses open up new creative possibilities.
To handle the torrent of images generated by the sensor, Sharp offers the possibility of working with a Grass Valley HQX codec (using uncompressed 4:2:2 subsampling) that reduces file sizes while requiring minimal processing, facilitating storage, transmission and editing tasks.
This compression also does not overload the computer's CPU, allowing continuous recording for up to 40 minutes.
On the other hand, its real-time output for uncompressed 8K (60p) images allows you to record the material on external units or route the signal to a studio broadcast (while recording) or have “clean” 8K (60p) material that will improve efficiency in image editing at 8K (60p) resolutions.
Videowall 8K
In addition to the camcorder and video monitor, Sharp also presents an 8K video wall made up of 8 impressive 8″x104″ panels. It features a 104″ widescreen display and an ultra-high resolution aspect ratio of 22:9.
Finally, the ecosystem is completed with an 8K distribution/transmission, which shows the possibility of high-quality image transmission at this resolution via IP.
