BIT Innova highlights the possibilities of the Tektronix Prism platform
This new platform bridges the gap between formats up to 12G-SDI and IP through a unique ability to integrate both types of signals.
Among the solutions selected in the initiative BIT Audiovisual Innova, a gallery with the most cutting-edge innovations exhibited at the Professional Audiovisual Technology Show, we find the platform Tektronix Prism, that Abacanto Solutions shows at the fair.
This new platform bridges the gap between formats up to 12G-SDI and IP through a unique ability to integrate both types of signals. It offers innovative IP/SDI signal generation and measurement of audio and video content up to 4K, as well as the ability to monitor a wide variety of IP statistics to help engineers achieve higher quality of service (QoS) in their facilities. It is an ideal device in SDI/IP environments such as: central controls, production studios, mobile units and contribution/distribution centers.
Prism allows real-time analysis and monitoring of IP/SDI signals for quick identification of problems and their causes, selection of media content over 10G Ethernet cable graphically (display, waveform, audio level...); detection of erroneous IP packets: arrival times (PIT), delay factor (TS-DF)..., analysis tools to quickly detect intermittent errors, checking the timing and metadata of the new synchronism by IP PTP, adjustment of seamless switching, and signal monitoring.
It supports both SMPTE-2022-5/6/6, SMPTE 2110 and ASPEN, as well as NMOS (IS-04/IS-05) and SDP (RFC4566) discovery, registration and control protocols for network equipment.
Prism is an essential tool for broadcasters and content creators that will generate confidence in developing their installations over IP.
On top of new forms of analytics, Prism will help leverage existing workflows, talent and infrastructure as they embark on the transition to the IP world.
Hybrid SDI/IP platform
Prism is the first hybrid SDI/IP platform designed to build bridges between the world of Broadcast engineers and that of IT engineers; will help to technically visualize the origin of the problems in video transmissions made over IP.
To do this, it is equipped with some innovative aspects such as being able to see the content of the information that travels through an Ethernet cable without having to stop to configure IP addressing: you connect the Ethernet cable, click on the stream you want to monitor and it is automatically available through its SDI auxiliary output at the same time that the PRISM shows us all the technical details of the signal.
Another important advance is that it has a graphical interface designed to be managed through mobile devices, which allows teleworking, as well as easy visualization of measurements made in places that are difficult to access, such as mobile units or inside racks.
It is a very versatile piece of equipment as it has various accessories to be mounted on the work table, in a rack or it can be supplied with a handle and feet for easy transport.
Finally, it should be noted that in terms of functionalities, it has inputs/outputs of all types: SDI, IP, SFP+, Ref., LTC and SDI Out output to view the content on a monitor. In addition, it also has DVI ports, Display Port, USB, Management Network, Audio, etc. which allows it to be easily integrated into any environment.
