Nexis E5 NL, Avid's new nearline storage solution, now on sale

The latest addition to the Avid Nexis family allows users to transparently and efficiently manage media across all their online, nearline and archive storage resources.

Avid announced this Wednesday the availability of its new solution Avid Nexis E5 NL nearline storage. The addition of this high-density on-premises solution to the Nexis family, the world's first software-defined media storage platform, enables Avid customers to transparently and efficiently manage media across all of their online, nearline and archive storage resources.

Avid Nexis E5 NL is tightly integrated into Avid media applications, services and workflows, and includes a new management console Avid Nexis web-based to manage, control and monitor Avid Nexis installations.

The new proposal is easily accessible via MediaCentral Cloud UX or Media Composer and also integrates with MediaCentral Production Management, MediaCentral Asset Management and MediaCentral Editorial Management to boost collaboration, including advanced features such as project and container sharing.

Extending Avid Nexis FS (File System) to a secondary storage tier makes it easier to search, search and import media, allowing users to locate content distributed across their operations more quickly and efficiently.

Ideal for storing projects, organizing workflows and proxy files, Avid Nexis E5 NL streamlines workflow between assets and non-assets, allowing enterprises to park assets as well as completed projects in high-density nearline storage, and keep them close at hand for rediscovery and reuse.

Up to eight Avid Nexis E5 NL engines can be integrated as a virtualizable storage pool, making content and associated projects and containers more accessible. Additionally, other Avid Nexis Enterprise engines can be integrated into a single storage system that is partitioned for better file organization.

Scalable from 480TB to 7PB

Avid's solution is scalable from 480 TB to 7 PB of storage by connecting multiple Avid Nexis E5 NL engines as a single nearline system for a highly scalable, low-cost secondary storage tier.

It is a flexible storage infrastructure that can be provisioned with the required capacity and fault tolerance characteristics.

The user will be able to configure, control and monitor Avid Nexis using the updated management console as if it were a MediaCentral Cloud UX application. Your dashboard provides an overview of performance, bandwidth, and system health, as well as access to quickly configure and manage workspaces, storage pools, user access, notifications, and other features. The flexibility and security of HTML5, along with a responsive interface design, enables mobile compatibility, allowing users to monitor and configure their system on the go.
