Pulse 95, the Emirates' first English-language station, makes extensive use of Lawo mixing, routing and control

SMC has equipped its first English-language station with a pair of Lawo systems comprising Ruby control surfaces with Power Core mixing engines and VisTool user interfaces.

Inaugurated with a star-studded event at the Al Majaz Amphitheater, the new station Pulse 95 from Sharjah Media Corporation (SMC) is the first English language station in the United Arab Emiratess. As of early May, Pulse 95, broadcasting in the United Arab Emirates on 95.0 FM, and also via the Sharjah web and mobile app, makes extensive use of the German manufacturer's mixing, routing and control Theirs.

Under the motto of The Heart of Sharjah, the voice of Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, was one of the first voices that listeners could hear on the air.

Powered by Sharjah Media Corporation, Pulse 95 aims to fill the gap in English radio production particularly when so many of the emirate's residents use English in their daily lives and increasingly do business in the language.

SMC has equipped the station with a pair of Lawo systems comprising Ruby control surfaces with Power Core mixer motors and user interfaces VisTool. The installation is an extension of a router NOVA17 Mk.II existing already operated by SMC.

Supporting 4 to 60 faders and being fully AES67 compatible, Ruby consoles offer intelligent AutoMix mixing and a context-sensitive graphical user interface via VisTool. While the physical mixing surface carries faders, source selectors, monitor controls, less frequently accessed features such as routing selections are available via multi-touch screens context sensitive.

The Power Core engine supports hundreds of AES67 and MADI I/O channels, and can be expanded with plug-in cards to include more digital and analog sources. It natively offers 96 DSP channels, multiple AutoMix groups, and a 1920 x 1920 internal routing matrix.
