The La Laguna International Historical Film Festival opens registration of projects

The La Laguna International Historical Film Festival takes another step in its consolidation by recovering the competitive sections of feature films and documentaries, whose winners will receive the 'Witness of History 2018' awards.

He La Laguna International Historical Film Festival (WHISTLE) faces its third edition with the challenge of recovering and consolidating the City of Los Adelantados in the cinematographic panorama dedicated to this audiovisual genre. Cinema, series, conferences, talks and video games with historical themes will once again take over the streets of La Laguna.

El Ayuntamiento de San Cristóbal de La Laguna, a través de la Concejalía de Patrimonio Histórico, Festeam Comunicaciones y Eventos, y con la participación del Gobierno de Canarias a través de la Dirección General de Patrimonio Cultural, ponen en marcha su particular Máquina del Tiempo para que la ciudad se transforme en un escenario abierto donde ficción, historia y realidad vayan de la mano. La cita será entre el 31 de octubre y el 4 de noviembre.

Como gran novedad para esta edición, se retoman con decisión las dos secciones competitivas, una para largometrajes y otra para documentales. Bajo el título genérico Testigo de la Historia 2018, the winners of each of the sections will be eligible for a prize of 1,000 euros.

The registration period for participants in Fichla is now open and will close on September 30. Once the material is received and viewed, the organization will select a total of 6 projects per section.

In order to be part of the official sections of the contest, it is necessary to meet the following requirements: fill out the form enabled on the event website (www.fichla.com) and provide a link to view the project. The rest of the material must be sent by email to this email: production@fichla.com

Furthermore, according to the rules available on the website, productions that have not previously been released in Spain in public theaters or on television may be submitted to both modalities.

The jury will be made up of prestigious personalities with extensive experience in the sector.

Las proyecciones de las películas seleccionadas se llevarán a cabo en los Multicines Aguere. Cada película contará con dos pases a lo largo de los cuatro días que dura el festival. Dates will be made public once all materials have been received.

The Time Machine

This year, the retrospective part, The Time Machine, will be dedicated to 50 aniversario de la muerte de Martin Luther King, hecho histórico sobre el que versarán las diferentes proyecciones, así como las charlas, conferencias y mesas redondas previstas. El programa definitivo con las horas y salas se publicará en los canales oficiales del evento.

Asimismo, y tras el éxito cosechado en la muestra del año pasado con la introducción de los videojuegos históricos como parte de este festival, en esta edición también se dará cabida a este tipo de formato con el objetivo de acercar al público más joven a este género cinematográfico.

Esta sección especial, dedicada a videojuegos y series televisivas, contará además con el reconocimiento del jurado, que otorgará al mejor en cada categoría, la obra escultórica Testigo de la Historia, creada explícitamente para este evento en el año 2005 por el escultor Román Hernández González.
