Pedro Roncal, former director of 24 Horas and professor at the RTVE Institute, dies
Pedro Roncal dedicated a good part of his professional career to training numerous radio and television professionals at the RTVE Institute.
A heart attack while enjoying his vacation in Pamplona ended the life of the Spanish Radio Television journalist this Sunday. Pedro Roncal.
Graduate in Information Sciences by the University of Navarra. He began his professional career at the radio station Spanish Radio Station in Pamplona in 1982, with the category of announcer-commentator. In 1986 he joined the team of National Radio of Spain in Navarra, where he worked for several years in sports information until being named Head of News and Programs, a position he held from 1993 to 1996.
In June 1996 he moved to Madrid when he was appointed director of Radio 5 Todo Noticias, a position he held until 1999 under the orders of Javier González Ferrari.
In mid-1999, he was entrusted with directing the 24 Hour Channel of TVE, and in July 2000 he was appointed deputy director of the TVE Information Services, a position that he combined with the direction of Canal 24 Horas until April 2004.
Since May 2004 he was part of the RTVE Official Institute, and served as a professor for the Master of Television Journalism.
Numerous students and colleagues of the Institute have remembered on social networks their passion for journalism and teaching on radio and television, praising the great work carried out by Roncal in the training of new professionals.
Roncal was married to the also popular Spanish Television journalist, Pilar García Muñiz, with whom he had a twelve-year-old son.
