Attendees at Camerimage 2018 will be able to participate in a hands-on CineAlta workshop with director of photography Todd Bell, in addition to enjoying the most recent material recorded with Venice.

Sony Venice

Sony come back to the festival Camerimage in Bydgoszcz, Poland, to explore creative possibilities and highlight the latest developments in their Venice full frame camera, including the new sensor extension system. Attendees at Camerimage 2018 will also be able to participate in a practical CineAlta workshop with the director of photography Todd Bell, in addition to enjoying the most recent material recorded with Venice.

Venice has been developed based on feedback from cinematographers around the world and in collaboration with James Cameron's production company, Lightstorm Entertainment, which is currently using it to film the Avatar sequels. Thanks to the extension system, cinematographers can separate the image sensor unit from the camera body using a cable of up to 5.5 m without affecting image quality. Venice can now be configured to record in almost any environment. Furthermore, the model Venice is one of the Sony cameras approved by Netflix, along with the PXW-FS7M2 o to PMW-F55.

At Camerimage, filmmakers will also be able to learn more about the firmware update V2.0, including new image modes and dual base ISO (500/2500), which provides greater low-light performance and greater dynamic range. Scheduled for February 2019, the Firmware V3.0 will further increase the flexibility of Venice thanks to a wide variety of additional image modes, plus decompressed recording capabilities with anamorphic lenses (1.25x, 1.3x, 1.5x and 1.8x) and wireless remote control capability.

On Friday the 16th, those attending Camerimage will be able to participate in a practical workshop with Sony and director of photography Todd Bell to discover how Venice's 36 x 24mm full-frame sensor can help filmmakers capture emotion in every frame, regardless of the production environment. Bell, who has worked in television, documentaries and short films, will discuss the new possibilities Venice provides for her work and the specific roles that allow her to boost her creative expression.

Attendees will also be able to hear about other cinematographers' recent experiences with Venice in another of the seminars that will be held at the event facilities. You can check all the information below.

Sebastian Leske, head of film product marketing at Sony Solutions Europe, comments that "all of our tools have been designed and developed to drive the creative vision of cinematographers and filmmakers, helping them capture the emotions of each frame in their work. We look forward to the Camerimage festival to talk about the development processes of VENICE and the rest of the cameras in the CineAlta range to give filmmakers the creative freedom necessary to bring their ideas to life."

In addition to Venice, Sony will present a selection of solutions designed to help filmmakers capture the emotion in every frame. The newly introduced BVM-HX310 31-inch 4K reference monitor will be on display, along with the PXW-FS7 II and PXW-FS5 camcorders, and the A7III mirrorless camera.

Sony will be from November 10 to 17 on the first floor of the main Opera Nova building.
