Goodbye to CeBIT after 32 years of history

CeBIT, the great German fair dedicated to information technology environments, will cease to be held after three decades of life.

German fair announced in Hannover that after being held for 32 consecutive years, CeBIT, the great German fair dedicated to information technology environments, will no longer be held.

In the future, the Hannover fair entity wants to integrate digital topics related to the industry in the different exhibitions it organizes while developing specialized events for other topics under the CeBIT brand aimed at decision makers in selected sectors.

With this initiative, the fair organizer responds to the fact that digitalization has already reached all industries and is therefore playing a key role in practically all fairs and congresses, which has increasingly called CeBIT into question.

Deutsche Messe AG acknowledges in a statement that CeBIT generated less and less interest, with the number of visitors falling year after year. Even so, the fair attracted 120,000 visitors, far from peaks of popularity that exceeded 850,000 visitors.

In international markets, Deutsche Messe intends to continue using the iconic brand for events, so CeBIT will not disappear completely. Deutsche Messe already holds international events under the brand such as CeBIT Eurasia (Istanbul), CeBIT Australia, (Sydney) CeBIT Asia (Shanghai) or CeBIT México (Mexico City).
