The alliance through which the project was born combines the know-how of 93 Metros, the access documentary production company of journalist David Beriain, with the experience of the Mediapro group in the production of documentaries.
The producers 100 Reply y 93 Metros have begun to develop a new documentary series project within the co-production framework agreed between the two. It is a portrait of the Palmarian Christian Church, a cult that has its origin in the supposed appearance of the Virgin Mary to four girls in The Palmar de Troya (Seville) in 1968. That alleged apparition attracted dozens of psychics who claimed to also see the virgin. Among them, Clemente Domínguez, a twenty-year-old who would end up becoming the leader of a branch of the Church with faithful all over the world.
The alliance through which the project was born brings together the know-how of 93 Metros, the access documentary producer of the journalist David Beriain, with access to environments and protagonists not accessible to other journalists or researchers; with the experience of the Mediapro group in the making of great documentaries such as Buy, take, buy, by Cosima Dannoritzer; The interior sewers o Cracks, produced for Amnesty International on the occasion of its 40th anniversary in Spain.
The project aims to become the most exhaustive, ambitious, rigorous and documented approach to the El Palmar de Troya case that has been carried out to date, combining the documentary genre with the narrative structure of fiction, which will include first-hand testimonies, unpublished material and recreations of the events.
This collaboration between the production companies confirms the line of cooperation initiated with the Mafia projects, a documentary series about the cultures, traditions and codes of the most powerful criminal organizations in the world; and Black Market, factual about the black market and the illegal trafficking of all types of merchandise.
