Netflix and Skydance prepare a documentary series about tennis player Rafael Nadal

Rafael Nadal will be the protagonist of a documentary series produced by Netflix y Skydance Sports in which viewers will discover how the Mallorcan's last months as a professional tennis player unfolded.

The docuseries will focus on the stellar career of Nadal, as well as in his life off the track, teaching material never seen of your personal file and through unprecedented access to the tennis star, his family and his close circle of coaches and advisors. Likewise, it will include “unprecedented access” to Nadal in its return to competition in 2024 after being away from the track for much of 2023 due to injury.

The Oscar nominee and Emmy winner Zach Heinzerling (Stolen Youth, Cutie and the Boxer, McCartney 3,2,1) directs the docuseries, still untitled, which produce David Ellison, Jesse Sisgold, Jason Reed and Jon Weinbach for Skydance Sports. This production company has produced great docuseries for Netflix, including upcoming projects like Aaron Rodgers: Enigma and the dynasty series about the Dallas Cowboys.

own Nadal explains how the idea of building a series around his figure developed: "I never thought I would do something like this, but I received a call from David Ellison and his words along with the project they put before my eyes convinced me to do it. You will be able to see what my life has been like throughout my career and especially during this last year, which has not been easy at all. You will also be able to see how my life and career have evolved over the years. I am sure that the result, the docuseries, will be incredible and will be seen all over the world. I am grateful to David Ellison and the Skydance team for creating and believing in this project. Also to my family and my team for allowing the cameras to be recorded during this time, I know it has not been easy; to my colleagues and colleagues who have been generous with their time in front of the cameras; and to the tournaments around the world that have made the job easier.
