Brainstorm He is now 25 years old, demonstrating that a specialized company can stand out in a complex market if it offers cutting-edge solutions, with highly creative and practical original proposals that meet the needs of our clients.
Ricardo Montesa founded Brainstorm in December 1993, thus beginning its activity as a provider of 3D graphics services for broadcasters and other companies, based on software developed during the final project of his engineering degree. In 1994, Brainstorm began marketing its eStudio software, which has since been considered a reference product for real-time 3D graphics.
In 1994, Brainstorm's first birthday, it also marked the first time in television history that a real-time 3D virtual studio was used live. It consisted of an interview with Mike Oldfield for the promotion of his album Songs of the Distant Earth, on Antena 3 (Spain). The musician was on a virtual set in the network's studios while answering questions from journalists who were in the Planetarium, a long distance from the set.
Two days later, Brainstorm started a weather show on the same network, which became the first television show to use this innovative technology on a daily basis, laying the foundation for many of the virtual shows broadcast live since then. This program was a resounding success and received a European Award for Best Weather Presentation.
Ricardo Montesa highlights that "this technology was a big step in the traditional world of chroma key, with the introduction of real-time 3D graphics and complex camera movements that significantly helped improve the presentation and impact of television programs, but at the same time required a large SGI Onix to generate enough power to generate the graphics, camera movements and integration of the presenter."
Así, Brainstorm se involucró en películas de Hollywood as Yo Robot, Artificial intelligence o Alice in Wonderland where eStudio was used as a preview tool. In 2007, Brainstorm increased its product line by acquiring the already well-known Aston brand, which allowed the development of more advanced CG and graphic tools.
Brainstorm's product line currently includes a wide range of solutions for real-time 3D graphics, photorealistic augmented reality and virtual studios, news and sports, entertainment, elections, weather or corporate presentations, which cover a wide range of needs, while their open approach makes them compatible with a wide variety of broadcast ecosystems. The growing demand for the company's products and services resulted in a 50% increase in global sales in 2018 compared to the previous year. A more than welcome gift for this 25th birthday!
"Innovation is part of our DNA. We want to provide our clients with solutions that meet their needs in the most flexible and effective way possible, without caring about the complexity they entail. We have dedicated the last 25 years to this, and we continue to have great ideas for the future," concludes Montesa.
