Magine TV leaves the streaming TV business to focus on B2B activities
After the closing of his activity in Sweden and Spain, he is now the turn of Germany. From now on he leaves his B2B services to focus on business proposals such as his Maginepro platform.
Magine TV, streaming platform launched in Sweden in March 2013 and later in Germany in April 2014 and in Spain at the end of 2013, has finished its activity this January 28. The Magine Service included so far public and commercial television channels live and open, as well as payment television channels both in SD and HD resolution.
The withdrawal of Magine TV is not surprising given the strong competitive environment and the dominant position of proposals such as Zattoo. In February 2015, Magine TV already discontinued its TV streaming service in Spain, followed by the same step in its native country, Sweden, in May 2017.
Germany was the last country in which Magine TV continued to offer a television streaming service for final consumers.
Magine TV will offer its 150,000 active users to go to its competitor Zattoo, which will take over the B2C business. Magine will now focus on his B2B activities worldwide With solutions like MaginePro, Video streaming platform for websites and content suppliers, goes from technical platforms to fully managed end -to -end OTT services for the linear television broadcast live and video content on demand.
Kamal Bherwani, President of Magine, says that "we have decided to stop focusing on multiple business models and focus on our B2B strategy. As a result, we are selling our B2C business to our competitor and now partner Zattoo. We want to thank all Magine TV users for their loyalty. With Zattoo, our users are in good hands and can continue to transmit high quality TV with a variety of television channels."
For its part, Nick Brambring, CEO of Zattoo International, regrets "the loss of magine as a partner in the development of a market for the distribution of modern television in Germany. In return, we are winning more users and therefore we can invest even more in our product."
