Amazon enters the streaming business with the purchase of Elemental Technologies

Among the more than seven hundred clients that use Elemental's services, broadcasters such as HBO, Telefónica, Comcast, BBC, ESPN and CNN stand out.

Amazon announced this Thursday its intention to buy Elemental Technologies to help you stream video on multiple platforms. The operation, which some sources estimate at around $500 million, will enable Amazon to have powerful tools for video distribution from its Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platform.

Among the more than seven hundred clients that use Elemental's services, broadcasters such as HBO, ESPN, CNN, Comcast, BBC and Telefónica stand out, using their platform to distribute video to any device, even in 4K UHD.

Andy Jassy, ​​president of Amazon Web Services, has stressed that “together we are going to collaborate on new infrastructures so that media and entertainment companies can improve their hybrid and cloud models.” Elemental will maintain its structure and headquarters in Portland (Oregon, USA).
